The full-time research scholars at JECRC University receive a scholarship from the University. The minimum duration to pursue the research is 3 years, however the fee charges would continue till the scholar completes the research.

JECRC University PhD Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

The scholars that are applying to pursue their research at JECRC University must have the following educational qualification obtained from any of the UGC recognized universities/colleges:

  • Candidates who have pursued a Master’s degree from a UGC-recognized educational institution with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 5.5 and above in the 10 point scale are eligible to apply for Ph.D. programme at JECRC University. 
  • There is an exemption of 5% from the prescribed minimum marks for the reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-Non-creamy Layer and Differently-Abled).
  • For students who have the qualifying degree from a foreign university, the registration for the Ph.D. programme will be confirmed after determination of equivalence by the University Research Committee (URC). 
  • Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) /UGC - CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE / Teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. programmes are exempted from the entrance examination. 
  • Candidates who have qualified the Common Admission Test (CAT) are also exempted from the entrance examination conducted by the University. 

Age Criteria

According to the norms of JECRC University, there is no age bar for applying for a Ph.D. degree programme offered by the university. 

JECRC University PhD Admission Guidelines

The admission to the Ph.D. Programme will be confirmed once the candidate clears the University Ph.D. Entrance Examination or submits a valid UGC-NET/CSIR/GATE/M.Phil Examination score card. 

The admissions are based on the merit in the entrance exam and Personal Interview conducted by the University. The mode of application for the doctoral programme is Online only.

  • Register for the admission and User ID and password will be generated on successful registration.
  • Re-login and fill the application form giving out all the necessary academic, personal as well as reservation (if any) details carefully. 
  • Upload the required documents in the prescribed format by the university.
  • Pay the application fees of Rs. 1500 online through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI.
  • The admit card for the Ph.D. entrance exam will be issued before the Exam.
  • The successful candidates who clear the test will be shortlisted and called for Personal Interview.

JECRC University PhD Course Details

JECRC University offers the Ph.D. programme based on the guidelines of UGC. The objectives of the Ph.D. programme are to impart research training to the scholar and prepare him / her to carry on independent investigation and original research and to enable them to make a significant contribution to knowledge in their respective field and profession. 

  • The university offers the research course in both regular as well as part-time mode. 
  • The total credit requirement for the Course Work will be 8 to 12 credits and must be completed within six months of registration.
  • Research Methodology is a general course for all the scholars conducting their research work in any stream or subject. 
  • The scholars need to present the Progress Seminar to the Research Progress Committee once every Semester.
  • Once the candidate completes his/her research work, the candidate will write the Synopsis and submit it within one month.
  • Within three months of submission of the Synopsis, the scholar needs to submit the thesis.

Ques: What are the various requirements for the External Candidates of the Ph.D. programme at JECRC University?

Ans: For External Candidates of the Ph.D. Programme, there will be an internal guide for each external scholar along with an external supervisor at the place where the scholar is working. The scholar needs to submit a certificate from the external supervisor that he/she is willing to supervise the research work being undertaken by the scholar in that organization or NOC from the employing organization regarding the candidate’s registration for PhD at JU.

Ques: In what circumstances does the Ph.D. registration of a candidate stand cancelled?

Ans: During the research work, if the Research Progress Committee feels that the candidate is not making sufficient progress or is not likely to complete his Ph.D. for any reason, so, the RPC, in consultation with the Guide, may recommend discontinuation of research work and cancellation of registration of the candidate.

Ques: How can foreign students apply for the Ph.D. programme of JECRC University?

Ans: The foreign candidates need to submit the application form through e-mail. A guide will be allocated to the applicant and the applicant would prepare Protocol Presentation with help of the allotted Guide. After this, the student would be granted Provisional Registration and approval letter. Further, the candidate needs to contact the concerned Indian Embassy and receive VISA and join the research course at the university campus. 

Ques: What is the language medium for the Ph.D Thesis/ Dissertation?

Ans: For all the subjects in various streams, the Ph.D Thesis/Dissertation should be completed and submitted in English medium except Journalism & Mass Communication. Hindi Medium is exclusively permitted for Ph.D Thesis/Dissertation for JMC.

Ques: What all fees or dues need to be paid during the Ph.D. programme at JECRC University?

Ans: The applicant needs to pay the non-refundable registration fee at the beginning. For as long as the Ph.D. course continues, the annual fees of INR 30,000 needs to be paid every year. At the time of the submission of thesis, an examination fee of INR 25,000 needs to be paid.
