What students say about Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University]

Likes

  • I like the coding culture that is in my college is excellent.
  • Placement oppurtunity given by vit is very good where every student is guarenteed to get atleast one job in hand when leaving the campus.
  • The college has a very good placement record, so we go out with flying colors
  • If we came to studies part it is very good opportunity to utilize in vit.
  • The placement training and orientation is very good and helps us get jobs.

Dislike

  • The research carried out by teachers is on very boring topics, something that doesnt inspire me at least.
  • In the final semester, students usually head out of VIT for internships for their final projects.
  • Our college always tries to show off their college placement records. They only show the icing on the cake, but the reality is often disappointing.
  • Loan facilities are bad, with an interest rate of 10 percent. If you have a scholarship and a CGPA of more than 8, you will receive 10,000 rupees. It is offered to students from poor backgrounds. The loan facilities provided by VIT universities are bad.
  • There are hardly any extracurricular activities, but even if there is an event, the management is very poor and always fails to send the information to everyone.
  • Preference is given to 9-pointers, which is a really stupid rule, and the hostels arent really affordable as well.
  • Some hostel blocks should have room changes, which are the only negative comment about VIT college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is at par with all the top engineering colleges in India. It is at par with gre aur GMAT entrance exams. Talking about faculties, we have many variations of faculties. In VIT, you can choose your own faculties (ffcs). So, if you don't want to study, you can go for a lenient teacher who doesn't teach and only gives marks, or you can go with strict faculties who teach really very well.

Remarks:

VIT takes admission from their entrance exam called - 'VITEEE'. It is a bit tougher level than jee, as there are more questions with not much increase in time, but the best part is, there is no negative marking. So you can go with your gut feeling. They release only rank, not marks, and then divide all the ranks on the basis of categories. Then they give every category separate time to finalise the counselling process.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like EE. The faculty-student ratio is 1:60. Ph.D. from IIT, NIT. It's very easy to pass. Not tough to score the top mark Just paying little attention is enough. So u can clear any subjects. Focusing on projects which u do in college helps to get placed.

Remarks:

VITEEE exam. Rank-based seat allotment. U can change the course after 1st year if you like to by scoring 8.5+ to another stream. Reservations are not considered as far as IK. Ranked-based allotment. U can choose the stream by priority.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I Was interested in the electrical Faculty: the student ratio is a little low, too many students. But divided into classes so still possible to get to know profs. All profs are PhDs or post-doctoral, assisted by research scholars. Teaching methods vary based on the different profs which is why there's a flexible system allowing to choose profs. Timely exams are set by each prof for their class based on what they've done in class. Some tough but overall passable.

Remarks:

you have to answer the entrance exam VITEEE and based on ranking in that exam you attend counselling where you give your choices in order of priority including categories and campus. After this, you get assigned ur course based on rank and your choice list. Details of the exam are all on the official vit website. Usually, cse seats get filled up the fastest after that ece and ecm and finally eee. Rankwise cutoffs vary each year. The admissions process is fairly smooth overall.

Placement Experience:

There are placements in our college, it's quite good. we are eligible from the 6th semester itself for placement and there are pool interviews from companies through which placement is done and the student goes to the field in which he or she fits for. companies like google, amazon Microsoft, Flipkart, Samsung, LG, tcs, and Wipro, come for placement. the highest packages go up to 40lpa in cse and 25 for branches like eee, ece, and eie whereas for mech civil and chemical, the highest is 20lpa. the overall avg package of vit is 7lpa. here 80% of students are placed and some of them opt for higher degrees.

Remarks:

Being an OBC candidate I didn't availed any quota. After the VITEEE rank was shown the admission process was very easy. We had a counseling round in which I opt for CSE and EEE (Electrical and Electronics). And fortunately, I got the EEE branch. Besides this, my admission was for the category. In VITEEE all your board marks and JEE percentile are considered. I scored 95 percentile in JEE Main paper 1 and 98.8 percentile in JEE Main paper 2. For VITEEE a candidate should have an age of a maximum of 20 years. one can apply who has passed the 12th board or appeared in the current year. After admission, we had an English proficiency test just for checking our vocab and grammar.

Placement Experience:

From completing 3rd semester you are eligible to apply for placement and the number of companies 600 or 750+ visited VIT. HIGHEST PACKAGE 2600000 from human holding & almost 90% to 95% of students got placement. I plan to get a higher post in the office.

Remarks:

Hi, this is Mukesh Sadarsing from VIT Bhopal University, VIT Bhopal launches the Star scheme for rural areas students who have top scores in their district from a government school. I don't know about the reservation process but one thing I would like to change in the admission process is that do an online publication.

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester, students are eligible for placement. More than 850 companies visit VIT. Most of them are tech-oriented. The core is very less. For use average package is around 10 lakh. PSU also visits for core placement. For CSE, IT, ECE, and EEE placemats are 100 percent.

Remarks:

Admission to VIT is based on an exam called VITEE. Based on your rank you can apply for the course during counseling. There is no reservation in the admission process. However, VIT provides free admission by Tamil government 12th-class toppers.
