What students say about Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University]

Likes

  • It has an excellent placement record this year. The highest placement package is 75 LAKHS, and this year 81 students got a pay package of 25 lakhs per year.
  • Yeah, we do have an internship in a very awesome organization where we gain work expertise and get an idea of working on a real-time project.
  • Placement drives are conducted by our college. Our college has a well-dedicated placement cell that communicates with all the leading companies to provide opportunities for students who have excellent academics.
  • Yeah, Im about to avail my education loan for fee payment, and yeah, the scholarship opportunities are pretty great.
  • The college provides all types of extracurricular activities, and it is awesome in terms of that.
  • I have not stayed in the hostel, but I have heard from my friends that the hostel food is very good and they prepare a variety of foods every day.
  • Coming to this college is one of the best decisions I have made in my life, and you will never feel that you miss anything that NITs or IITs could offer.

Dislike

  • The research carried out by teachers is on very boring topics, something that doesnt inspire me at least.
  • In the final semester, students usually head out of VIT for internships for their final projects.
  • Our college always tries to show off their college placement records. They only show the icing on the cake, but the reality is often disappointing.
  • Loan facilities are bad, with an interest rate of 10 percent. If you have a scholarship and a CGPA of more than 8, you will receive 10,000 rupees. It is offered to students from poor backgrounds. The loan facilities provided by VIT universities are bad.
  • There are hardly any extracurricular activities, but even if there is an event, the management is very poor and always fails to send the information to everyone.
  • Preference is given to 9-pointers, which is a really stupid rule, and the hostels arent really affordable as well.
  • Some hostel blocks should have room changes, which are the only negative comment about VIT college.

Placement Experience:

In 3rd semester students were eligible for campus placements. Fifteen-plus companies recruit students. Most 9 cgpa students will mostly get placed in super dream jobs and maintain 8cgpa to get placed, most of the students go for Ph.D. than jobs.

Remarks:

The person who was applying must have a minimum of 60 percent or 7 cgpa in the bachelors. The admission form will be available on the portal there will be an option for choosing the campus after the merit list was released by the university.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the course as I want to do higher studies in the field and have a career in the R&D field. I got to know that the university provides enormous resources and support in research. The curriculum is specifically designed for getting ready for industry-level research and basic research. The current faculty-to-student ratio is about 1 to 20. The exam system is a bit different from other universities, there are two Continuous Assessment Tests (CAT1 and CAT2) and a final assessment test (FAT), and 3 internal tests for each subject and in each semester. The CATs are 50 marks reduced to 30 and Fat is 100 marks reduced to 40 and three internal exams are of 10 marks each. Its grading system is relative grading. In the interval of each 20-23 days, there are exams. Internals are being held in between cats and fat.

Remarks:

The admission process was through a merit list based on the undergraduate results. When I was going through the admission process, I was in my 3rd year and only have had 1st to 4th semester results, they made the merit list based one those results only. After the publication of the merit list, they sent a confirmation email.

Placement Experience:

The placement of our campus is also good. This year's highest package is around 72LPA. The average package in this university is around 7-9 LPA and many of the students got the offer like 15+ according to their hard work.

Remarks:

If your score is min. 60% in 12th, and UG, then you are eligible for the M.Sc. Data Science. If you want to take admission to VIT then first you need to apply for the course via the official website of VIT. Then you need to choose your course and make the payment.
