Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (UBKV) is a public agricultural university located at Pundibari, West Bengal. The university was established in February 1, 2001 and is affiliated to UGC, AICTE and ICAR. The university has five faculties namely Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry which offer selected undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In addition to it, the university also offers one research programme i.e. Ph.D

UBKV offers Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the following three disciplines:

  • Ph.D in Agriculture
  • Ph.D in Horticulture
  • Ph.D in Forestry

Only candidates with the relevant qualifying degree are eligible to apply for admission to PhD programme. Students will be admitted to the course based on merit list prepared through marks obtained in the university entrance test. Interested students can register through the online application process by filling and submitting the forms along with the required fee.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must possess master’s degree in agriculture with at least 7.00 OGPA (for general candidates) and 6.5 OGPA (for SC/ST category candidates) from this university or any other recognized university.
  • The minimum age of the candidate must be 23 years as on January 1.

Eligibility For International Candidates:

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree in agriculture from foreign university under 10+2+4 or 10+1+4 or 11+4 pattern and should have experience of dissertation in university for at least one year.

Admission Process

Selection of the candidates to the PhD programme is done on the basis of their performance in the entrance test, conducted by the university.

How To Apply?

  • Candidates can register themselves for admission to PhD programme by filling and submitting the online application form only through the official university website. Forms will not be issued from the university counter.
  • Along with completed application, candidates must submit the fee amount of Rs. 300/- (for general & OBC candidates) and Rs. 75/- (for SC/ST/PWD category candidates). Fee can be paid through Debit/ Credit Card and net banking facility.
  • The envelope containing duly filled-in application form which must be sent to the university should be superscribed as “Application form for admission to Ph.D programme under in service/Project fellow category”.

Enclosures:

  1. A declaration from the collaborating institute stating that this University will have no financial involvement for such Collaborative Research work.
  2. A declaration stating that the student shall stay a minimum of semesters starting from his / her date of registration in this University.
  3. A certificate to be submitted by the competent authority of Collaborative Institute specifying that the research work has been conducted in the Institute
  4. The proposal of name of Co-Chairman of the collaborating institute and Chairman of this University to be forwarded.
  5. Information regarding the plan of research work proposed to be conducted in the collaborating institute along with the time schedule and duration that may require for the work to be completed.
