Columbia University Review

It is a top university. The CS branch at Columbia University is one of the best in the world.

Course Curriculum :

Course is very rigorous. There are very less courses in which you feel you did not gain much. All other courses you will have to put a lot of effort and you will feel that you have gained a lot from the course.

Exams :

IELTS score must 7 or above. My IELTS scores were 7.5 overall. GRE Verbal : 163 GRE Quant : 164 GRE AWA : 4

Placement :

Not sure about the median salary. The placements are very good. Once a semester you will have two career fairs. The companies however are startups or are companies located in New York. Placement works mostly like how it works in other colleges. You will have to apply via linkedin or through referral or through other popular job hiring sites. The college curriculum is very rigorous and will definitely prepare you well enough to be able to secure a good job.

Internship :

I have not.

Fees :

Per credit : 2250$. Total 30 credits.

Scholarship :

None

Faculty :

There are top professors in the field of CS teaching at Columbia. 1) Bjarne Stroutstrup - C++ inventor. 2) Clifford Stein - Co Author of the algorithms CLRS text book There are many other professors who are doing cutting edge research. Most of the professors are approachable.

Campus Life :

There are activities happening round the year be it sports or cultural. You won't have much time to participate though

Hostel :

I am living off campus.
