It is really good and helpful to my career

A
7.3 /10

Good research output, good programs in Mechanical Engg, nice city, and good scholarship.

Course Curriculum :

Course work was specialized and related to application rather than just theory. I worked in a lab with a Professor, but that was not part of the course.

Exams :

I had to submit SOP, 2 Letter of recommendation, 1 CV. My professors from IIT BHU provided the LORs which was online and I had to send them a link to the reference. In SOP I wrote about my projects at UG, my work experience and the reason for pursuing higher education.

Placement :

Exposure is always present for those who try. Campus placement is not that strong in US universities except for CS/electrical related companies. Have to build network and talk to people.

Events :

Research labs were the one thing that stood out to me. Student services, health center, wifi and library were exceptionally good and people were very professional. Many different clubs and student bodies existed and I was part of some.

Fees :

After scholarship ($4500), the tuition was $11,700 (USD) per semester.

Scholarship :

I received $4500 per semester. It was based on UG CGPA and SOP.

Faculty :

Some courses are full of students, but others that are special courses have 8-10 students. Core courses have 50+ students. My MS thesis Professor was the most helpful and made the most impact on me. Another Professor who taught us FEM was also memorable.

Hostel :

No I lived in an apartment in Brooklyn half hour away from school campus. I had a private room ($700/month) and used subway (public train) everyday.
