Destination Australia Scholarship offers up to $15,000; applications open from May 26

Domestic and International students planning to study in Australian Universities for the academic year 2023, can avail of funding of $15,000 under the Destination Australia Scholarship program. The application round for this year will commence on May 26, 2022.

Emerging early childhood education and care professionals who wish to pursue higher studies while working and living in Australia are eligible to apply for this scholarship program to avail of financial aid.

Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie, Minister for Regionalisation, Regional Communications, and Regional education, commented that it is a perfect way to encourage students to pursue higher studies in Australia. The country has also recently reopened its borders and it is expected that number of international students returning to study in Australia is going to increase throughout the year.

Since its inception in 2020, the Destination Australia Scholarship program has supported around 1800 students and pumped more than $76 million into regional economies. This year, the program plans to support around 450 students planning to study in a regional area.

According to the Minister, ‘Because of this program, more students – both domestic and international – are getting the chance to experience the academic, cultural and lifestyle benefits of living and studying on a regional campus’. She also added ‘These regional communities will also benefit significantly from having more students living, working, and studying in their locations – so it is a win-win.

Interested candidates can directly apply for this scholarship program through successful tertiary education providers. Each student will receive up to $15,000 per year for four years. Candidates applying for studies from Certificate IV level through to PhD are eligible to apply.
