Diploma in Mining Engineering Technician degree at the Cambrian College is offered a 2-year (4 semesters) program.
This program is offered on a full-time basis.
The mining industry is dynamic and ever-changing, and Cambrian's Mining Engineering Technician program will challenge students to explore why and how things work and to find innovative solutions to problems.
Through this program, students will prepare to become part of mining engineering teams responsible for a wide range of projects involving surveying, drafting, design, environmental studies, industrial geological, and geophysical fieldwork.
In this program, industry-experienced faculty members will guide students' progress and understanding through examples gained from industry experience, field trips in the renowned Sudbury basin, and hands-on demonstrations.
Students will benefit from a variety of experiential learning opportunities, including activities at an active mine site to gain a broad understanding of the various aspects of mining engineering as well as communication and leadership skills.
There is a field school for 10 days following the end of the second semester.
An optional Co-op Placement is may be available for up to 16 weeks following the fourth semester.
The teacher to student ratio is 1:17 which helps increase interaction between professors and students.
Students can get opportunities for experiential learning through clubs and competitions.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students who want to get admission in this college must be 75% or above in the academic average.
Students must qualify to obtain their OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma).
Ontario High School applicants require the following Grade 30 credits (overall average of 70% is required):
- Any grade 12 English (C) or (U)
- Any grade 12 mathematics (C) or (U) (MCT4C is highly recommended)
- Any grade 12 physics (C) or (U)
- Computer competency in relevant software

Others:

Students must be 19 years or older before the beginning of classes.
Students who are graduated from Ontario Secondary Schools and who have obtained their diploma (OSSD) or certificate (OSSC) may be considered for admission on an individual basis for some programs delivered at the College.

Indian Student Eligibility:

The students must have completed 10^th and intermediate i.e 12^th grade which has the minimum with 70% marks.
The minimum qualification required to attend this program is a higher secondary school certificate.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
