Admission Requirements

  • Ontario university or college degree or college diploma or equivalent in fine art, 2D/3D animation, photography, film/video, architecture, or graphic design.
  • Applicants with an equivalent combination of partial post-secondary or related work experience may be considered for admission. A relevant resumé and references must be provided.
  • Art portfolio

Additional Information

  • After you apply, you will receive details of how and when to submit your portfolio.
  • Your portfolio should include at least 10 original examples of two or more of the following mediums:
    • digital art (drawing, painting, illustration)
    • traditional art (drawing, painting, illustration)
    • 3D art that can include modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, compositing
    • game design process (character and/or level design, playable demos)
    • concept art for characters and/or environments
    • video compositing and/or motion graphics
    • Applicants are selected for admission based on the strength of their portfolios.

English Language Requirements

All applicants to Seneca must be well prepared to study in English. If you are coming from a country where English is not the primary language, you must show one of the following:

  1. Successful completion of a minimum of two years of full-time study in a school and country where English is the primary language
  2. Successful completion of a minimum of one year of full-time study at the postsecondary level in an institution and country where English is the primary language
  3. Successful completion of an intensive English program such as the English Language Institute
  4. English proficiency test scores from one of the international English language testing bodies are listed below. Only tests taken in the last two years are considered valid
  • IELTS Academic - Minimum 6.0 with no skill below 5.5
  • PTE Academic - Minimum score 58
  • TOEFL iBT (including MyBest TOEFL and Home Edition) - Minimum 80 with no skill below 20
  • Duolingo - Minimum score 105 to 110
  • Cambridge English Exams (B2 First/FCE, C1 Advanced/CAE, or C2 Proficiency/CPE) - Minimum 169 with no skill below 162

  1. Second class /division degree results in a minimum overall average of 55%
  2. No more than 4 backlogs
