FAQs

Ques. What are the differences in the application process for international applicants?

Ans. International applicants must meet the same admissions requirements as Canadian applicants. The LSAT is a requirement for all applicants. We do not require international applicants to take any extra English tests because the LSAT includes an English comprehension component. Please note that for overseas applicants, the most significant change is that we require transcripts from degree-granting universities outside of North America to be sent via WES.org. WES.org will convert the grades into a grading system that may be used to calculate GPA and, as a result, academic evaluation.

Ques. Do I need to take any examinations (LSAT, GRE, TOEFL, etc.) to pursue an LLM or Ph.D.?

Ans. If you are an international student who does not speak English as a first language, you may be required to show proof of English language proficiency. If you studied at an English language institution for at least three years at the secondary level or at least one year at the post-secondary level, you are not required to provide proof of English language competency.

Ques. When will I know if I've been accepted?

Ans. Admissions decisions are made in February for candidates who are eligible for financial aid and in early May for those who are not. Once a decision has been made, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Ques. Is it possible to pursue an LLM without first earning a law degree (JD or LLB)?
