The University of Ottawa is a really good university for Civil Engineering. My major is in structural engineering and the university is very well known for that. The course structure is really flexible. Also, there are a lot of choices in courses for structural engineering.
Course Curriculum :
The course is really good and practical. It might be difficult for some people to adapt at first. But once one gets going it's a smooth process. There are a variety of subjects from which a person can choose whatever he wants to study as per his liking. So overall a great pool of knowledge.
Exams :
The admission is based on merit basis. Sometimes even an 8 CGPA is not good enough or sometimes even 7.5 is enough. It totally depends on the pool of applicants. But being on the safer side if it's above 8 you have a good chance. The other requirement is any English proficiency test. I opted for IELTS and my score was 7.5
Placement :
So there are 3 career fairs in a year where different companies come and you can talk to them. We develop connections with the employees and can email them our resumes. University also helps us in preparing the resume.
Events :
The campus is big. It’s basically located in Downtown Ottawa so lots of fancy things. There are 2-3 coffee shops on campus. There are study and discussion areas in various buildings. Wifi is there all over the campus. There is a train station on the campus that connects to most of the places in Ottawa.
Scholarship :

Faculty :
The faculties are just great. They are available anytime when you need them. Just one email away. There are also TAs assigned for each course who do assist really well. There are almost every resources available in the library which can even be accessed online for free. Professor Murat is a great Professor. I took his two courses Earthquake Engineering and Advanced Reinforced Concrete Structures. He is the research head of the department. The course is designed in such a way that almost everything is covered.
