The University of Waterloo- what's ahead of you?

I applied to 5 universities in Canada, 4 in Ontario and 1 in Alberta. I pinned down to Waterloo from (Trent, Ottawa, Queens) due to its wonderful co-op system and reviews by others. There was an application fee through the OUAC for every university. The process is simple, but I still went through an agent to help me better.

Exams :

Only 10th and 12th board results were sufficient. My predictive scores were 87% and I scored 86%, offer letter asked for 85% overall and 75% per subject. IELTS was waved off since it was an English Medium School. Not all schools wave off the same, and rules change by year.

Placement :

The university has a fairly large and well - established job system and we find many companies such as Johnsons Johnsons, Bank of America hiring students. A tedious application process but most companies hold interviews on campus. An excellent reputation of waterloo students in Canada.

Internship :

Yes, it does. I applied early before the semester, due to a large number of applicants. Lots of opportunities nearby campus, such as restaurants and other part-time jobs. Extra certifications such as smart serve are a plus.

Fees :

$19,000+ per semester and other expenses. Very minimal scholarships are available in Canada for international students. Some of them include Entrance Scholarship etc. of about 500-2000$. Better to be financially prepared. CO-OP earning and part-time jobs are essential to meet expenses especially for international students.

Faculty :

1:500 per classroom, can be very distracting most of the time. FACULTY OF APPLIED HEALTH SCIENCES is one of the reputable faculties and the professors have extensive knowledge and research. E-learning most commonly occurs, with professors tailoring their work, not much use of textbooks.

Hostel :

I lived on-campus during my first year at university. We were given free shuttle to and from campus. Staying on-campus makes it easier to make friends (but one can always hang out on residence even if staying off campus).
