NITTTR offers admission for three years full time three years / four years part time PhD programs. Two categories of Ph.D. programs are available: Full-time and Part-time. 

Admission to these programs will be done on the basis of the candidates merit in his/her qualifying examination.

For admission to the Ph.D program at NITTTR, candidate must have passed his/her master’s degree in the related field, that one wishes to apply for. Applicants under the reserved categories have relaxation in cut off criteria for admission in these courses. 

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates willing to apply for PhD programs in NITTTR should pass the following eligibility criteria.

  • Master’s Degree in relevant discipline OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology of the University with a minimum of 15 years of research experience.
  • A minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 out of 10 points . For reserved category candidates, 50% marks or 5.0 CGPA. 
  • Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from other Universities / Boards must submit an Eligibility Certificate from the Registrar of the university while submitting the application form. 
  • For a Part time program, the minimum period of completion of course is FOUR YEARS before submission of the thesis and for Full time, the minimum period is THREE years. 
  • Research Assistants and Technical Assistants of the University are also eligible to register for the part time Ph.D program Degree on Part-time basis in the same Department.

Selection Criteria

  • Selection for the Ph.D. Program is decided by the Departmental Selection Committee of NITTTR. 
  • An Entrance test will be conducted both Written and Oral. Candidates’ overall performance will be considered for final selection. 
  • The final merit list is being displayed on the official website of NITTTR and selected candidates will have to complete the admission procedure within the proposed last date of admission.
