Which course is better salary wise for a civil engineer in NICMAR: ACM or PEM?

NICMAR is a good and reputed college with a stellar placement record. The 2018-2020 batch had over 90% placement percentage with more than 120 companies visiting the NICMAR (Pune) Campus for recruitment. Mostly, the companies tend to offer similar packages for ACM as well as PEM. However, what does make a difference to it is the prior work experience of the candidates. So, it has got more to do with the individual capability than the branch, where higher salary placements are concerned. Placement Opportunities: Placement opportunities in NICMAR for ACM are a little more as compared to those of PEM. In the 2020 placements of the institute, 571 students from Advanced Construction Management got successfully placed whereas Project Engineering and Management saw 239 student placement. Some of the frequent companies visiting the campus are Tata Consulting Engineering, Wipro Water, Reliance Industries, OYO Rooms, etc. Do consider all your options before making a final choice. However, on the feedback received from some of the alumni of the institute, I would recommend you for Advanced Construction Management rather than Project Engineering and Management.

Which subject should I give special emphasis to, during my BE in civil engineering, if I intend to opt for a PGP REUIM at NICMAR?

Actually, all of the subjects have something that will be used in the future and that you must prepare for. Concentrate on your fundamental civil engineering subjects, such as Concrete Technology and building materials. These topics will help you prepare for interviews if you are applying for specific positions in large real estate companies. For REUIM, you dont need to focus on any of the civil engineering-specific disciplines, in order to get admission. REUIM provides a better balance of electives, such as corporate real estate management, real estate negotiations, and asset management, among others. The rest of the numerous subjects are shared by all branches.

Which is better for post graduation in civil engineering? NICMAR or M.Tech through GATE?

If you really want to pursue a career in the Technical field then it will be suggested to go with M.Tech as you might get ended up in some renowned structural engineer. You can also pursue any other subject as well if you are interested. This will open an opportunity in doing a lectureship in college. By doing so, you can further pursue Ph.D. It would be highly suggested to go with GATE only if you are getting into top IITs and NITs as it will make an impact on future references. Apart from this, if your interest area is in Civil engineering but in a different domain, then go for NICMAR as it will open the option for accounting, marketing, business development, contracts, planning, valuation, execution, etc. By doing so, you might as well end up as a successful corporate or entrepreneur.

NICMAR University is a Construction Management & research center and a non-profit management institute that offers education in the field of management and construction engineering. The institute was founded in 1983 by the joint efforts of the major construction companies in India. Candidates who wish to apply to NICMAR need to clear the PG-NCAT entrance exam, group discussion, personal interview and rating of application conducted by NICMAR for admission to its several PG courses. NICMAR University Admission Process

The selection of students is made by the selection committee. Admissions are administered centrally from Pune campus.

All specified documents must be submitted. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications are scrutinised and eligibility is established on the basis of documents submitted.
Eligible candidates will be invited to appear for the selection procedure, which comprises of NICMAR UniversityCommon Admission Test (NCAT) (or, other entrance examinations as specified below), Personal Interview (PI) and Rating of Application (RA).

Selection of candidates is done on the basis of merit. The merit list is drawn on the basis of performance in NCAT/CAT/GATE/GMAT/CMAT, PI and RA. On an average, around 10-15% of the students secure overseas placements. NICMAR Universityhas achieved full final placement for all the programmes listed above. Overall per student average compensation package for all campuses together equals approx. Rs. 6.75 lakhs per annum, so far. In addition significant number of companies include allowances / accommodation / site allowances / reimbursements / variable pay / transportation in their offers. The value of these perquisites is not included in the average compensation package calculation.

Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) Scholarship	The top ten rank holders completing the first year of the full time residential post graduate programmes every year and with a minimum score of 75% in the project management related courses, subject to clearance of examination of Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
Cherry Hill Interiors Limited Scholarship	Cherry Hill Interiors Limited, New Delhi, well known in corporate interiors and occupancy services across the country has instituted six merit scholarships for students of residential full time Postgraduate Programmes at NICMAR. This consists of one scholarship each for Rs. 10,000, Rs. 9,000 and Rs. 8,000 per month based on academic performance in each academic trimester for junior as well as senior batch.
