Directorate of Distance Education is Kurukshetra’s primary institute for the last 35 years. The intention of this directorate is to provide education seekers with the opportunity to fulfil their dreams. It has been rated in category I by the UGC. Every year more than 20,000 students enrol for the distance education programme here.

This university provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the doorstep of the student. It comes under Kurukshetra University.

In order to attract people who are disabled, girl students and those from economically backward families, the directorate provides a number of scholarships. It provides technical and professional courses as well as BA, MA, BSc, MSc courses. This college provides all facilities for its students like even some practical classes even though they have enrolled under the distance education program.

Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra Admission

Admission to this university is purely based on merit. 

For UG courses, you have to pass your 12th board exams. 

For PG courses, you need a bachelor’s degree. 

For an MBA, you have to appear in the entrance test. 

How to apply? 

  • Fill the admission form available on the website. 
  • Pay the requisite fees mentioned on the website. 
  • Post the filled admission form to the director’s office in the directorate. 
  • Attach income certificate, caste certificate, disability certificate, if you are applying through any of these quotas. They must all be self-attested.

Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra Scholarships

  • Under the ‘Shikshit Beti’ scheme, girls who have scored more than 70 per cent in their qualifying exam will get a 25 per cent concession in the tuition fees.
  • Leprosy affected students will be given free admission. 
  • SC students, whose family income is less than Rs 2.5 lakhs, will not be charged any fee by the directorate.
  • Blind students will also be given full tuition fee concession.

Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra Facilities

  • Teaching blocks: The department has three blocks just for those pursuing their higher education in the distance education mode. These blocks have lecture rooms, common rooms, computer labs and canteens. 
  • Jawaharlal Nehru library: Distance education students can show their ID cards and use this space for reading. 
  • Computer lab: A fully functional computer lab is there for students to use. 
  • Library: Distance education students can produce their ID cards to use the library facility on campus.

Ques. How many batches a year does the college have?

Ans. One session begins in January and goes on till December of that year. The other session begins in July and goes on till June of the next calendar year.

Ques. Would I have a personal contact programme?

Ans. Yes, these classes are usually held in December. You have to pay a fee of Rs 1000 for this.

Ques. Will there be internal assessments?

Ans. Yes, there will be internal assessments and these will be uploaded on the website.

Ques. Will I get old question papers to prepare for my exams?

Ans. The website has an option for that as well. Just add the course, year and subject to get question papers from previous years.

Ques. How do I get the syllabus for my course? Can I find it online?

Ans. Course material is usually provided to students. However, the course structure can be accessed on the website. You just have to enter your course. An option to download your syllabus will appear.
