Government Law College in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University and approved by the Bar Council of India. The college was established in 1979. Government Law College offers five-year BA- BL and two-year BL course at Undergraduate level and ML course at Postgraduate level.

  • Application form for both UG and PG courses are accepted through offline mode only.
  • Applicants can either obtain the application form in person or can be obtained through the post.
  • Minimum eligibility for BA – BL course is HSC from a recognized board with minimum 45% marks.
  • Applicants for BL course should have done graduation in any discipline with at least 45% marks in 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern.
  • Selection to the BA – BL and BL courses is on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam.
  • For ML course, applicants should have passed BA – BL or BL course from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks.
  • For BA- BL course, those who are employed are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have passed the qualifying examinations from institutes / University located outside of Tamil Nadu or are from States other than Tamil Nadu, will be admitted to the desired course only on production of Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Registrar of the University.
  • Eligibility certificate can be obtained by making a request through a requisition letter addressed to the Registrar, along with letter, a copy of selection & allotment letter and a Demand Draft.

Government Law College BA – BL and BL Course Admission 2023

Government Law College offers five-year integrated BA – BL and LL.B and three-year Professional Degree Course. Applicants of BA – BL course must have passed HSC from a recognized board with at least 45% marks and applicants of BL course should have passed a graduation degree course in 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern.

Admission to both the BA – BL and BL course is on the basis of merit list based on the qualifying exam.

For preparing merit list, marks obtained in subjects excluding language subjects will be taken in into account and marks obtained by the student in the qualifying examinations in the first attempt alone will be considered.

Allotment of seats will be made only through counselling session, conducted at the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University.

Key Points:

  • There are no age limit criteria for admission.
  • For Eligibility criteria, candidates belonging to SC/ST communities should have secured at least 40% marks.
  • The applicants who have passed qualifying examinations through Open institute or directly without having any basic qualification are not eligible for admission to the law courses.
  • The candidates from other states will be considered under Open Category.
  • Applicants who are engineering graduates, their marks secured in 3rd to 8th semester alone are taken into consideration for determining merit for admission to BL course.

Government Law College ML Course Admission 2023

At postgraduate level, the institute offers two -year ML course. Candidates who hold BL or BA – BL degree with minimum 45% marks are eligible to apply for this course.

Admission is granted on the basis of candidate’s performance in the qualifying exam.

  • The candidates desirous can obtain the application form in-person.
  • Application forms can also be obtained by post by submitting requisition letter, mentioning the course the candidate wishes to apply, along with the requisite fee.

  • The concession in application and registration fee is applicable to the candidates belonging to SC/ST community only from Tamil Nadu and not for those from other States.

  • Application processing fee paid through Cash/Demand Draft/Money Orders/Cheque/Bank Pay Orders etc. will not be accepted.

  • This scholarship is offered by Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • The Scholarship amounts to INR 25 Lakhs.
  • The scholarship is given to first 5 rank holders in each year of the three-year/five-year BL course.
  • Applicants applying for this scholarship must have passed the subjects in the first attempt itself.

Thirumalaisamy Audiseshan Endowment

  • The scholarship is granted by Thiru. Audiseshan, Former Vice-Chancellor, TNDALU.
  • The corpus fund for the scholarship is INR 25,000.
