Ques. What is the prospect of production engineering in NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Himani Bose on 23 Mar 21

Ans. Many people think that production engineering is mechanical minus thermodynamics. Which is not true. Production engineering is completely different from mechanical as the subjects are different. My friend is currently in the 4th year of production engineering, NIT Trichy and according to him, it doesn’t really have a good prospect. Here’s why: While other departments have 6 subjects per semester you’ll be having 7. This can get quite hectic for you at times. Despite so much hard work, placements are not good at all. You will never be treated equally to your mechanical friends, however good your profile is. Although you can go into most of the mechanical engineering fields like automobiles, industrial tools making, etc. you will be paid lesser than your mechanical engineer mates. However, if you are planning for higher studies and research, then production is a very good choice. Being a production engineer opens up the manufacturing, industrial, and mechanical higher study options too. So, if placement after B.Tech. is your focus, please look elsewhere but if you are into higher studies then surely go for it. Choose wisely.Read more

Companies such as Excel, Futures First, Mu-Sigma, Tredence, etc have NIT Production Engineering students as their employees. IT Sector: If you have strong coding skills, then you can get recruitment in Wipro, Capgemini companies. Core Field: If you wish to study mechanical engineering and opting for production engineering is a stepping stone, you could definitely shift branches. They both have subjects like quality control, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, etc. Thus the branch usually does not matter if you hone the skills properly. Competitive Exams: You can also appear for GRE/GATE/ESE exams. Mechanical students too can sit for competitive exams such as GATE/ESE. Ques. Which is better- IEM in Ms. Ramaiah or EEE in Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering?

● Top Answer By Sushmita Raj on 17 Sept 21

Ans. After doing some research online, I would suggest not to go for IEM at Ramaiah, until and unless you are extremely interested in studying that particular subject. Since it will not pay you anything and you will eventually wind up in the same category of mass placement at one of the service-based companies.  Double-check the topics you will be studying. EEE is usually less exposed than IEM, yet EEE is regarded as the most complex branch to be studied.  The majority of EEE / ECE / other branches receive job offers from Infosys, HCL, Accenture, or Tech Mahindra. Parameters IEM at Ms. Ramaiah EEE at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering Tuition Fees INR 3.47 lakh  INR 10 lakh Placement Percentage 95% 70% Highest Package 13 LPA 15 LPA Average Package 7.6 LPA INR 8 LPA So, what is the point of learning core Electronics if all you have to do at the conclusion of your engineering degree is code? If you want to build a career, think seriously about the branch you select. Regardless of the institution you attend, I believe EEE is far superior to IEM. Pursue EEE only if you are truly passionate about the subject.Read more

Ques. How is production engineering at nit calicut?

● Top Answer By Shaurya Singh on 25 Mar 21

Ans. You must know what you are getting yourself into. The mechanical engineering department of NITC offers 2 BTech courses that are Mechanical and Production. Both of these departments share faculties, labs, some courses, and other facilities. But at the end of the day, both are different courses. There are two types of people seen in Production Engineering at NITC: Students who wanted to study mechanical, but didn’t have the rank for it or could only get mechanical at other NITs. Production is after all similar to mechanical. Students who didn’t have an appropriate rank to choose a branch/college of their choice, but still wanted to study in an NIT. There are few things that students commonly felt during their days: Students are often seen saying that they should get mechanical equivalent certificates. There is no purpose in saying this as they are two different branches. Students also complain that teachers are biased. Few teachers refrain from teaching students from production batches. Mechanical batches are taught mostly by permanent faculty while production batches get guest faculties. There are very few placement opportunities for Production batches in comparison with Mechanical. Core companies are even fewer. The students of Production are often isolated from other batches of students. They are allotted spare rooms. Categories Production Engineering at NIT Calicut Course Fee 5.42 lakh Placement Percentage 70-80% Highest CTC 8 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA Recruiting Companies Tata, Bajaj, HPCL, BPCL, TCS, Texas Instruments, etc. The placement options are not as rare as students may make out, but it may not be in the field that they are looking for. So in the end one can say that, if the student truly wants to be a mechanical engineer, then this college probably isn’t for you. If they just want the NIT experience, then they should know what options they will have after college.Read more

Ques. Which would be better to take from NIT Trichy: instrumentation and control or production?

● Top Answer By Anirban Biswas on 04 Sept 21

Ans. I know a little bit about ISI Kolkata since I have a few friends from the institute. Here is what you should know about the internships between semesters.  The course curriculum specifies that in the summer after completing your first year of M.Tech, you have to do an internship either in the industry or academia. You will have 3 options.  Industry: Many companies that visit the Campus for placements of 2nd-year students also select interns for the same. Some of such companies are Samsung Research Labs, Google, General Electric, Reliance, Flipkart, De Shaw, JP Morgan Chase, etc. The average stipend offered last year was 65,000 rupees/month. Some companies offer more than 1 lakh/month. One of my friends interned at Samsung Research Labs. Academia: As per ISI guidelines, you need to pursue an internship at a different academic Institute or industry. A friend of mine went to NUS Singapore, while two others went to a university in Germany. You can also apply to other institutes in Japan, USA, and Europe. People also go to IITs, CMI, and other Tier-1 Institutes of India. Within ISI: If for some reason you could not get an internship in the above-mentioned ways, you can approach any of the 250+ faculty members across all 5 ISI‘s and can ask to work with them in their labs. You will have internships at the end of the first year. In the second year, you will have placements, dissertation, academics. So, the only time left to do an additional internship is the winter break after the first sem. Unless you are extremely enthusiastic, I will suggest that you take a break during this period. Because after the break you will be swamped with coursework for 1.5 years.Read more

Ques. Should I choose BIT Mesra or NIT Agartala for production engineering?

● Top Answer By Vineet Kumar on 20 Apr 21

Ans. BIT Mesra is hands down a better choice over NIT Agartala. A few of my friends have studied at both BIT Mesra and NIT Agartala. Following points are based on their respective experience: BIT has an amazing infrastructure, facilities, brand value, and student culture. Hostels are well maintained and are connected with High-speed internet facilities. The campus has a student-friendly ambiance and the weather at Ranchi is top-notch. The curriculum is well balanced and up-to-date with today's technological trends. Apart from studies, the institute even focuses on various personality development and career counseling programs. Many core companies visit the campus frequently and IT companies are always there for backup in the worst-case scenario so that you will not remain unplaced.  The only factor in which NIT Agartala seems better is in terms of tuition fees. BIT Mesra has twice the fee of NIT Agartala but it is justified for the quality of education, infrastructure, and facilities they provide. Quick comparison: Particulars BIT Mesra NIT Agartala Total seats offered(CSE) 33 56 Entrance exam BITSAT JEE mains Cutoff 29665-35847 200254-251247 Tuition fee 1,46,500 77,700 Placement rate 82% 75% Highest CTC offered 28 LPA 17LPA If you are truly interested in production engineering, it's better to opt BIT Mesra rather than NIT Agartala as BIT leads in every single aspect over NITA.Read more
