MICAT 2023 Syllabus consists of topics for 3 Sections: Section A, Section B, and Section C. Each section is in a different format, and thus has different syllabus. Check MICAT Exam Pattern

  • MICAT Syllabus 2023 will consist of questions similar to top management exams such as CAT, XAT and GMAT. 
  • Section A is a Psychometric Test. The test would cover individual faces like – Personality Factors, Situational Judgements, Personality Traits etc. Section A syllabus.
  • Section B would be a Descriptive test. The candidates would be required to write – Essays, Arguments, Personal Opinions, Provide stories based on pictures givens. Check Section B Syllabus
  • Section C would consist of 3 Subsections: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, and Data Interpretation, General Awareness. Check MICAT Section C Syllabus

  • MICAT 2023 Section A, Psychometric Test, is a qualifier round. 
  • If Aspirant qualifies for Section A, their relative performance in CAT 2022/XAT 2022/GATE (2020 onwards) will be considered. 
  • If the candidate qualifies for the above, then only section B will be considered. 
  • Scores in Section C will be considered for the candidates who qualify the basic cut off for Section B. 
  • Based on scores of Section C, candidates will be shortlisted for the GE and PI Round of MICAT 2023. 
  • GE & PI candidate list will consider the Composite Score formula of 50% CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT scores.

MICAT Psychometric Test Syllabus

Section Subject Topics Covered
Section A Psychometric Test Personality Factors, Behavioural Patterns, Career Goals, Life Goals, Situational Judgements, Personality Traits etc. 
  • Section A is the qualifying round for MICAT 2023. 
  • The paper primarily aims to assess candidates’ personality and verify whether he/she is fit to be part of MICAT.
  • Candidates should answer questions with honesty, as this is a psychological test and not a test of knowledge. 
  • The Previous Psychometric tests were usually divided into 3 different sets of questions:
    • First set had 30 statements from which candidates needed to pick the 10 best qualities associated with their own personalities.
    • Candidates have to choose from a set of 2 arguments and give a rating on the basis of closeness to their personality.
    • In the third set, candidates are given a rating on the scale of 1 to 6 for the responses under a certain scenario in terms of their priority.

MICAT Descriptive Test Syllabus

Section B Descriptive Test Essays, Arguments (For and Against), Personal Opinion, Provide story based on pictures given
  • Candidates will be asked descriptive type questions in this section of MICAT 2023. 
  • Section B of MICAT assesses the candidates writing and language skills. 
  • The marks will be given on the basis of fluency, articulation, language, grammar etc. 
  • The candidates’ creativity will also be tested. 
  • Around 4 questions are asked. 
  • There will be no negative marking in this section.

MICAT Verbal Ability Syllabus
  • This section examines candidates Grammar and Vocabulary. 
  • The candidates writing skills, vocabulary and language skills will also be teste in this section of MICAT 2023. 

MICAT General Awareness Syllabus

  • The General Awareness section of MICAT will test general knowledge of candidates. 
  • Questions from any year can be asked from either Static GK or Current Affairs. 
  • Questions relevant to Business, Media and Communications from this year or past year should be focused on. 
  • Questions related to the Corona Virus might be asked. 
MICAT Divergent and Convergent Thinking Syllabus 
  • The Divergent and Convergent Thinking section is similar to the Logical Reasoning Section of most management related exams. 
  • Candidates' ability to apply structured thinking is tested here. 
  • Best way to improve in this section is to practise. 
MICAT Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation Syllabus 
  • This section of MICAT will test candidates’ mathematical abilities. 
  • The fundamentals of maths should be very clear.

MICAT 2023 Syllabus FAQs’

Ques. Will there be any change in MICAT 2023 Syllabus

Ans. MICA has not released the official syllabus for each individual paper of MICAT. However, based on the previous papers and information that is available, this is the most probable syllabus for MICAT 2023. 

Ques. How will candidates be shortlisted for GE and PI?

Ans. The candidates will be shortlisted for MICAT GE & PI based on their performance in section C(quantitative ability, verbal ability, divergent convergent reasoning and general awareness). 

Ques. What kind questions are asked in the Psychometric Test for MICAT? 

Ans. Psychometric Test consists of questions that will test your personality factors. They look for the statistically proven psychological markers that will ensure good performance. 

Ques. Will the score in the Psychometric Test affect the final score? 

Ans. Psychometric Test is the qualifying round. Candidates have to clear this round so that further rounds can be attempted.

Ques. How is the composite score calculated? 

Ans. The composite score is calculated in the following manner: 

  1. CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%
  2. MICAT: 30%
  3. GE: 20%
  4. PI: 30%
