What is your leadership philosophy?

“I believe in teamwork and growth of everyone”

I feel a leader’s role is to inspire and motivate the team members in the right direction and support them at every point in time. A leader should appreciate the work done by each individual.

What makes the education industry the best industry to work in?

“It builds a nation and as a teacher, you got to play your part, what could be better than this”

The education industry is working for nation-building. Education is the backbone of any country. It provides lots of opportunities to earn for self and become a responsible citizen of the country by contributing in a constructive way since education helps to understand what is right and what is wrong.

How your work and contribution impact the growth of the Institute?

“Through the activities, I am a part of, I am giving my best for the growth of institute”

I am working currently as Dean Research and Development looking for research and developmental activities such as in-house funding support for undertaking research, getting sponsored research projects to grant, providing consultancy to industry and other organizations, publishing research papers in scopus, publishing books, books chapters, filing copyrights and patents, conducting international conferences and summits which create a huge impact on the growth of the institute. I must mention that our institute is being ranked 130th in engineering discipline by National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Education also ranked 2nd amongst self-financed institutes in Atal Ranking for Institutional Innovation Achievements as declared by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the upcoming years?

“We should groom our students in the technology field and should focus on more research work”

I think college’s top priority over the upcoming years should be on research, innovation and incubation. As we have seen the challenging period of the COVID pandemic, countries could survive due to their own research and utilizing the local strength and resources. Hence there is a need to focus on areas like biomedical, artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science, Internet of things and cyber security. Keeping this in mind, we have already established center of excellence in these domains.

How do you plan on using the immense knowledge and experience you have?

“I am using my full potential and network to guide my students in every possible way”

It’s true that everybody learns through their experiences and by upgrading them. I got enough opportunities in the institute to update my knowledge and exposure. I am using it all to mentor the new joiners and students. I am guiding them to undertake research in thrust areas, helping them to collaborate nationally and internationally through the network being developed over a period of time. I have made the Standard operating procedure for many activities which we have conducted after learning.

What kind of placement and higher studies opportunities your institute provides?

“We do provide 100% placement assurance and support for higher education”

Our institute has a dedicated placement cell that provides training, conducts mock tests for aptitude, mock group discussions and mock interviews. Placements are from a number of sectors in demand like the IT sector, the Automobile sector and Banking Sector, etc. For higher studies, enough efforts are taken for guiding students to choose better institutes. Apart from this institute encourages students to go for GATE and there is complete support for the same.

How would you define your connection with students and faculty in the institute?

“We do offer an open and transparent environment to everyone to explore and grow”

Being Dean I am very close to students and faculty who are actively engaged in research and innovation. Our Research and Development cell regularly conducts awareness and connection sessions with students and faculties through various schemes of the institute and government of India.

When you look back on your time in the educational industry, what’s the major difference?

“There was lack of awareness and hence opportunities at that time”

I graduated 25 years ago in 1996 from the Government College of Engineering Amravati. During those days’ support system in the educational industry and awareness amongst students was not much like today. The industry works on a concept of production and product. Like this educational industry is conceptualized today which was not earlier during our days. Now there is quality checks during and at the end of every process in the Educational industry.

What message will you give to the family or parents of students?

“Don’t rush while choosing courses and institute”

With ample availability of educational options and institutions, I would appeal to the family or parents of students to make a wise choice by going through details about each career and also about the institutions offering the same. Now their role is more challenging to choose the institution and career since more options are available. As such career guidance and counselling would help to make a better choice.

Any advice you would like to share with the new generation and our aspiring students?

“Don’t believe blindly in every information or knowledge which you consume”

The new generation is living in the era of the digital world where a lot of information is available easily. Hence I would urge not to go away with just information available digitally but verify the facts from authentic sources and more often by peer review and previous experiences. Today’s generation is smart but I appeal they should be careful since decisions regarding education have long-term impact.
