Kanpur Institute of Technology Director: Prof. (Dr.) Brajesh Varshney Interview

Prof. (Dr.) Brajesh Varshney is the Director at Kanpur Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has a B. Sc. (Engineering) Mechanical, M.Tech. (Engineering Systems: Mechanical) and a Ph.D. to his credit. He joined Kanpur Institute of Technology, as an Assistant Professor, in the Mechanical Engineering Dept. As a founding faculty member of the institute, he has worked as HOD (Mechanical Engineering), Assistant Dean Academics, and Dean Academics. 

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“The primary factor in the education sector is to stay connected with the students”

Throughout my career as an academician, I have always connected with the students. Till today I am involved at the classroom level with the students. Also, I have always learned from the best practices being followed across.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Constant support and motivation to achieve the end results of the organization”

My leadership style is simple. I like to lead by example. When I delegate tasks, I inspire my team by always being available to help them. I have always tried to keep my team informed and align their motivation with the institutional objectives.

How do you plan for the marketing and administration of your school?

“In this digital world, all strategies and programs are through the use of technology”

We, as an institute, strongly believe in the presence of social media to bond with our current and prospective students. Leveraging the efforts through the right channels and prominent content makes the task easy and effective. Our responsibility towards University, students, their parents, and society is to produce better professionals and human beings. Individuals who would contribute to the needs of the country and the world at large.

What do you think should be the institute top priority over the next 10 years?

“Aligning our programs with the job industry and maintaining a collection of highly qualified faculty”

The top priority of our institution is to continuously review and evaluate current programs for relevance to the employment of our students. In this process, we would like to increase the relevance of instruction to the needs of the students, both personally and in the workplace. Another major focus would be to recruit and retain excellent faculty to deliver the best to our students.

What has been your vision for the Institute? 

“To build dedicated career professionals out of the curious young minds of today”

Since the inception of Kanpur Institute of Technology in 2004, I have been working towards a goal of providing the best education to my students. Initially, I worked as a faculty and now as a Director. Since starting, my vision is always to transform the ignited minds into globally competitive Technocrats and Managers. We, KITians as a team are continuously working in that direction.
