Prashant Chahar: “General (No reservation)”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Prashant Chahar: “It was an Offline GD on SIBM B campus. First, there was a WAT, followed by a Group Discussion. A group of 10 students participate in both these exercises which are for 10 min each. There are usually 2 moderators for this. Students are given a small case which is displayed on the screen. For WAT students have to write their solution in about 200 words and then a discussion happens on the same case.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Prashant Chahar: "For me, the case for Group exercise was as follows. A start-up company has to borrow money to upscale its business. They have a few options to borrow from with different rates and risks involved. We as a group had to figure the best course of actions for the Startup in this scenario.”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Prashant Chahar: “My answer was a balanced one. I tried to distribute the risks with the idea of not putting all my eggs in one basket.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Prashant Chahar: “There were two-panel members for the personal interview. One panellist was a faculty and the other was an Industry Expert. The interview happened on campus. The interview was mainly focused on my previous internships and some industry-related questions.”

Mention at least 5 interview questions that were asked to you and your responses to each of them.

Prashant Chahar: “1. A math question was asked that I had to solve with a pen and paper. It was a logical question and did not involve any sort of higher order mathematics.

2. They asked me about the trade war between China and US that was going on at the time

3. They asked me the difference between a petrol and diesel engine

4. They asked me why I wanted to do MBA and which specialization interested me the most

5. They asked me automobile industry-related questions as well.”

Mention 3 reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Prashant Chahar: “1. This college was at par with or better than the other colleges I had converted at the time

2. College was in Bangalore, a city with a lot of opportunities. It contributed as a factor as well.

3. The placement record of this college was quite decent along with a scope to grow in future”

Prashant Chahar: “I did not perform as well in CAT and XAT”
