Admission Experience

Did you avail of the benefit of any reservation?

Shriya Singh: “General (No reservation)”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Shriya Singh: “GD was held offline. There were around 10 members in each group and everyone was given a chance to speak. There were two moderators who were the faculty of the Institute. We were given 2 minutes time to think about the topic before starting the discussion. GD was a soft one where everyone listened to each other patiently. There was also WAT on a similar topic and one page space was given to write. Enough time was given to think and write about the topic.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Shriya Singh: "My GD topic was mandatory attendance and different modes of teaching. The best part of SIBMB is the admission committee which handles the process really well. I prepared through readings on the internet and a few YouTube videos which were very informative.”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Shriya Singh: “My GD pointers tried to give a 360 degree view on the topic which focused on management's side and the student's side of the story. Giving a detailed account of the points that play an important role in attending classes and learning from peers in a classroom setting.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Shriya Singh: “There were two members in the panel, one who was a faculty and the other one an industry expert. It was in an offline mode. The duration of interview was 15 minutes where they try to cover and ask questions from your personal life, academic background and work experience. It was not a stress interview at all.”

Mention at least 5 interview questions that were asked to you and your responses to each of them.

Shriya Singh: “I was asked to sell a pen in a store like Big Bazaar, so I stressed on the 4Ps of marketing and gave my answer with respect to that.

Secondly, I was asked to introduce myself and state points which were not mentioned in the GD. There I told them about my strengths and weaknesses.

I was also asked why I wanted to do an MBA. Being from a management background before (BBA) it was a precursor to MBA. I wanted to enhance my skill set and have cross functional knowledge.

I was asked about my previous college , which was St. Xavier's College. I spoke at length about how it added to my learning and growth in three years.

I was asked about my interests and hobbies. I spoke about Painting and dancing where I express my thoughts freely and feel liberated.”

Mention 3 reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted (OR if you did not join this college after converting it, mention 3 reasons for not joining it).

Shriya Singh: “I chose this college because I personally knew people who passed out from it and were doing really well. It was a good experience for them and it also aligned with what I wanted to do and where I wanted to see myself in 2 years.”
