Dr. K Lakshmi Prasad is a Principal of B. V. Raju Institute of Technology, Vishnupur, Narsapur. He worked as Principal & Dean at Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) Visakhapatnam. He did his graduation from JNTUA, Anantapur(1979-83) and post-graduation from IIT Bombay (1983-85). He pursued his doctoral and research work at IIT Bombay. He handled two sponsored research and development projects worth 3.8 crores sponsored by the Dept of Science & Technology, MHRD, Govt of India 2014-18 as Principal Investigator. He is a member of Indian Society for Technical Education- MISTE, Board of studies in Architecture and planning, and served as a Chairman. “B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence, Minor Degree in Data Science, CSE (AI & ML) and more are the latest programs in our campus”

Latest programs in our campus include B.Tech. in CSE (AI & ML), CSE (Data Science) with Intake of 120, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Science and Business Systems, and more. In these new age programs, students will build and train neural network architectures such as Convolutional Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, etc. they also learn how to master theoretical concepts, their industry applications using Python and TensorFlow and tackle real-world cases such as speech recognition, music synthesis, chat bots, machine translation, natural language processing, and many more. Apart from the above, for admission into our regular B.Tech. (Biomedical Engineering) and B.Tech. (Pharmaceutical Engineering) programs, Intermediate Bi.PC stream students are also eligible.

I feel new age technologies are in high demand with the opportunity of a career boasting at a high growth rate. All industries now have a multitude of applications with automation and digitalization, which is the primary reason why there is a high demand for jobs in that field. The courses related to Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles, AR/VR/MR, IoT, Quantum Computing, Blockchain Technologies, Simulators, Automated Design tools, Space Engineering, Satellite Communication, Life Sciences, Solar Technologies, Entrepreneurship, etc. are the demand of the hour. These courses are already imbibed in our revised curriculum to nurture the students to be industry ready.


How do you tend to build an industry connection with the new roles that are being offered by companies?

We always stay in touch with the Alumni. They are former students who have “been there and done that”. Our curriculum development and implementation processes often take years and may be decided without the input of local or regional employers. They’re so time-consuming that even cutting-edge skills or information can be outdated when the new curriculum is adopted. The enrichment of expertise of the faculty on these dynamically upgrading technologies is a barrier that has to be addressed


What are the key factors that are being considered while adding a new course?
