Prof. Dinesh Kumar has been working as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department at Mewar University, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. He has done B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from GHEC Solan HPU of Shimla and M. Tech in Thermal Engineering from NIT Hamirpur as part of his academics. He has 2+ years of teaching experience and he has also published 8 research papers in various International Journals. His field of interest is Thermal Engineering.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"My family background and passion to educate students are the main factors behind my association"

As I come from a family where most of our family members are in the education sector, this was one of the main reasons for me to choose the education sector. I learnt a lot of things here while educating my students and the happiness and satisfaction I receive here is unmatchable. Also, I believe that education is the only weapon which can prepare students and youths of our society to contribute to the nation's growth. 


Which latest programs your University is offering to its students to help them stand apart from the crowd?

"We are offering B. Tech, M. Tech, PhD and Diploma courses in the Mechanical Engineering domain"

The Mechanical Engineering Department of our University is currently offering B. Tech at UG level, M. Tech at PG level, PhD at Doctorate level along with Diploma courses. And laboratories of our department are well resourced with the latest equipment and high quality machines and we regularly arrange workshops for students as per the syllabus and outside world requirements. 


How are your university's programs best suited for students?

"Due to the tremendous job opportunities they are and will keep offering"

All the programs of our college aim to instill best technical knowledge and skills in students and we train them from the start so that they can work effectively in any field be it Automobile Industry, Manufacturing Industry or Thermal Power Industry etc. Also, opportunities are increasing in all these domains and will keep growing in upcoming years as well. Hence, they will prove to be a best fit for students from a career point of view.


What are some of the best practices of courses your department is offering to students?

"We regularly organize extracurricular activities and remedial learning classes for students"

Our Mechanical Engineering Department offers value-added courses to the students to enhance their practical knowledge, extra remedial classes for difficult subjects and to clear students doubts on time, hands-on training sessions and co-curricular activities on a regular basis to help them grow on both personal and professional fronts. Lastly, we have allotted 1 mentor per 30 students to help them with their academic queries and issues.


What are some of the benefits and insights of courses that students are pursuing in your university?

We have well resourced labs and research environments for the students along with highly qualified and experienced faculty members from premier institutes and also well trained Lab Technicians to assist teachers. Also, our courses are approved by University Grants Commission and All India Council of Technical Education and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India. In your opinion, what should be the priority of University in upcoming years?

"We should focus on improving our teaching-learning methodologies and relations with industries"

I firmly believe that we should focus on enhancing the education quality of our University in accordance with global education standards and we should also work to strengthen our relationship with our industry partners, other institutions and collaborators. And our college is also planning to recruit faculties from IITs and NITs as well as other premier institutes.


How did you train your faculties to keep up with changing educational trends and industry standards?

"Our faculty members are upskilled through customized training programs"

Although all our faculty members are highly educated and experienced, with changing industrial expectations, trends and education sector standards they also need to upgrade their skills, because only then will they be able to deliver best to students. And to train them on cutting edge technologies and teaching methodologies, we make best use of ICT Tools and also offer them hands-on training sessions on a regular basis. 


How do you establish a connection between your institute courses and industry demands?

"By sending students to other institutions for training and industries to pursue internships"

We send our students to various Govt Institutes including Advanced Training Institute of Kharagpur and Ludhiana, Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology and MSME Tool Room for industrial training. All of these institutions have amazing training staff and experts to educate students on cutting edge technologies and tools being used in the outside competitive world. In addition to this, students are sent to various reputed Industries in India and abroad to attend 6 months long internship programs. 


What challenges have you faced while upgrading the education quality of your university?

"Incorporating our teaching methods as per student understanding is a challenge due to communication gap"

As our students come from different sections of society and use different languages to communicate and learn, analyzing and incorporating all their academic needs in our programs and teaching pedagogies sometimes becomes a challenge for us, but we are trying our best to fix these kinds of issues on an earliest basis.


On what kinds of projects your students are currently working on under their respective courses?

"Our students have developed amazing products like Solar and Pneumatic Cars"

Our students are working on amazing projects and developing some cool products including Solar Car, Pneumatic Car, Multipurpose Dustbin Stand and also designing Road Grass Cutting Machine.
