Mr. Rajdeep Thakur has been working as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department at Pragyan International University, Ranchi, Jharkhand. He has done M.Tech from MVIT, Bangalore. Prior to Pragyan, he worked as a Lecturer in a reputed university for 5 years. He has also published more than 13 research papers in professional journals and edited volumes, has authorized 1 book and last but not the least has published research deals.

What are the key factors that have kept you connected with the education Sector? 

"My passion of educating youths and students, and urge to learn new things have kept me intacted"

I had started my teaching career in a university and from there I moved to Pragyan International University some 4 years back. And being in the education sector, we have to adhere to many responsibilities including the administrative and academic responsibilities. And to teach our students, we have to regularly upgrade ourselves, hence in my opinion, my passion of educating youths and students for the purpose of offering them a better future have kept me associated with the education sector for so long.

How would you describe your leadership style?

"True leadership is maintaining transparency in whatever work you do and influence others life in good way"

I firmly believe that a true leader maintains transparency in whatever work he/she does and also provides a democratic environment to everyone in the team to work and speak. Apart from this, leaders allow others to speak freely and give an ambiance to flourish others ideas. 

How do you strategize the plans for the administration of your institution?

"By aligning few students as representative of committee for each program we offer"

We have certain processes in place to ensure the administration of our university. And for each program we offer, we have made a few people as representatives of that course, so if I talk about the flagship program of B. Tech, so we have a B.Tech committee and 4 people are called as B. Tech representative. The main responsibility of these representatives is to conduct different kinds of academic and non-academic activities to give a suitable platform to students to help them showcase their skills. And they also connect with students regularly to address their issues or queries and then convey the same to us in monthly meetings. 

In your opinion, what inbound students can gain from studying here in your university?

Pragyan International University is the only university in Ranchi which is registered to SEMS. And the programs we offer to our students are beneficial for all students, be it national or international. We offer best internship opportunities to our students in reputed organizations in collaboration with our Alumni who are working with eminent companies and industry partners so that they can use their existing skills, learn new ones and can get to know the outside world in more depth. This will help them to become a better professional by enhancing their overall personality and knowledge. They meet new people while working on industrial projects and hence their exposure to the outside competitive world gets more productive.

We regularly keep ourselves updated with the recent industrial development and demands and accordingly include those requirements in our curriculum in the form of new programs for students. We have also signed MOUs with many reputed organizations and institutions for the growth of students and to arrange finest training for them. In addition to this, we regularly take feedback from our students about improvement in teaching-learning methodologies and also to verify if they are getting quality education or not.

What are your responsibilities towards the students and institution?

"To ensure that departmental activities are conducted on time and students get best knowledge"

Being the Head of the Mechanical Department, I am responsible to supervise and monitor the departmental activities and also to ensure that all the academic processes remain compliant with students needs and industry standards. In addition to this, arranging training programs and events like seminars and conferences for students also comes under the ambiance of my responsibilities.
