Dr. Prashant P Jaju is a gold medalist in Oral Medicine and Radiology from the reputed Pune University. He is currently serving as Head of the department, Professor and Guides in Rishiraj College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal. He is the recipient of the IDA profile of the month and year in 2016. He is the key opinion leader for Dentsply Sirona for Imaging since 2011. 

Being the HOD, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

“Social media with proper implementation of decided projects for better response”

 If we need any objective to be achieved, there has to be meticulous planning behind it to attain that goal. So whenever we have decided on any program or any agenda to be implemented by the honorable management, we require our staff and student alike to actively participate in this exercise and achieve our goal. So we decide on the key points in our initial discussions, when, where, and how to implement it and what are the possible roadblocks to this goal. Once these things are clear we move to remove the problems systematically and then execute our action to achieve the desired goal. In today’s time of social media which is a big tool in marketing, 

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your college?

“The same foundation with several prospects and culture has been put together to make learning new and eventful”

Yes, the education system particularly medicine and dentistry are structured differently in our country and abroad, but the foundation remains the same. Any future dentist joining our institute will have a great learning experience because here the student will be exposed to academic and extracurricular activities throughout the year. Dedicated infrastructure is provided by the management to our students for learning in the form of patients, which is so important for medical students. In this case, students from Rishiraj College have an upper hand compared to their contemporaries in treating patients once they passed out.

How does the curriculum of your College ensure the best practice of the industry?

“The well-established facilities to provide quality education to the students for enriching practical knowledge”

With full-time teachers with solid academic backgrounds and skills, our students get maximum benefits from the dental curriculum designed by the university and dental council of India. As mentioned earlier with a plethora of patients, a wonderful digitally equipped library, robust infrastructure for student benefits, we are providing high-quality dental education to our students. Many of our undergraduate students prefer to stay back and join as postgraduate programs in our institute because of the wonderful research facilities we provide to them. We are having state of the art dental departments with all the modern equipment’s needed to treat patients. Our passed students are pursuing post-graduate courses across the country, are doing Ph.D. in foreign universities, and are also successful practitioners in their cities.

When you first came to Rishiraj College of Dental Science & Research, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

“To take steps toward the evolvement of the institute in every term of infra, academia and other activities”

 I joined this institute in 2012 as a reader, being from Maharashtra which tends to have better health and educational facilities, Rishiraj Dental college was a breath of fresh air in terms of quality of dental education. LNCT group management has taken every possible step to make our dental school one of the best institutes. Be it infrastructure, patient care, and student academic activities, there has been tremendous growth seen in the last 10 years and we are so proud to be a part of this wonderful institute. 

What do you see as Rishiraj College of Dental Science & Research College's greatest strengths?

“The collaborative behavior with a great teamwork of every member of the institute”

The vision of LNCT group management along with the decisive leadership provided by them lays the foundation of a great institute. Our entire staff and students and the collaboration with which we all work provide the overall strength to our institute.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Rishiraj College of Dental Science & Research?

“To keep the pace with increasing demand of the digital era in the field of medical”

Dental education has grown exponentially over the years, with manual procedures we are now moving towards a digital world of dentistry, with greater accuracy and better patient satisfaction. So we have to keep pace with these developments on regular basis and update our knowledge as doctors and students equally so that we can compete with the best in the world.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Hard work, Sincerity, and complete concentration are the key factors for the success”

To relate and understand the importance that the profession of dentistry holds is my advice to the youth. The position we acquire to maintain in medicine and the hard work needed to excel in this field should always be maintained.
