How does the Indian education system differ from the foreign education system?

“Indian Education focuses mainly on theoretical knowledge”

I believe that in Indian education a lot of focus is on theoretical knowledge but they lack practical and industry-ready knowledge and implementation of the same in the real world due to which the qualitative outcome is not that great, which is not the case in foreign universities. Here, at Uttaranchal dental and medical research institute we make a conscious effort to train students in a way that they can create an on-ground impact.

How do you ensure a safe and ragging-free campus environment for students?

“Providing students with a holistic and friendly environment”

We have assigned different floors to juniors and seniors in the hostel. Moreover, the wardens assigned to them are also different following the year they are studying in. If the student is encountering any kind of issues related to bullying or ragging we have a toll-free number where the student may report. Our vision is to create a holistic and friendly environment where juniors and seniors can interact and learn from each other.

How do you think the currently offered courses will benefit students?

“Current courses would focus on practicing surgeries and opening their own clinics”

We have both undergraduate and postgraduate courses for dentistry (bachelors and masters in dental surgery ). These courses will help students practice Surgeries in hospitals, open their clinics, and pursue a career in teaching. Moreover, The central and state governments have openings for dentists in various sectors with the temporary rural posting and later, a permanent posting depending on the departments so there is a scope of government jobs as well as a dentist.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Providing Students with a flexible college curriculum”

10 years down the line I want the college curriculum to be more flexible, follow the international syllabus and methodology of teaching. We want to invest in high-quality equipment that is currently used in foreign universities. I hope the students from this university become capable enough to serve people across the nation and globally by the learning and skills they acquire from our institute and experience.

“Providing students with diverse cultural programs and financial aid facilities”

Mission statements and strategic plans of the university promote student body diversity and inclusion on campus establish priorities that can, in turn, allow the university to allocate the necessary funds and resources for these purposes. Institutions of the university are encouraged to consider building their capacity to collect and analyze the data required to set and track their diversity. Also, students report that it is important for them to see themselves reflected in the faculty and curriculum to which they are exposed to create a sense of belonging and inclusiveness.

What advice would you give to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Students should listen to their heart while choosing their career path”

Listen to your heart and choose a career path based on your interest and knowledge.

Commit yourself to excel in it. Don’t look for immediate security. Don’t look for shortcuts. Remember that you are a member of the society first, and then a professional. So, you have a responsibility towards family, society, and nation too. Realize that your well-being lies in the well-being of all others around you.
