Which department is better in NIT Trichy, Civil Engineering or Chemical Engineering?

SS
Sitesh Seh Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India

It’s difficult to compare these branches or any other branches of engineering until and unless you specify the parameters of comparison. Scope, placements, future opportunities, etc., play an important role in differentiating the branches. Also, you should choose based on your interest and future goal while opting for a branch rather than on such parameters.

Now, if you do not have any interest in any particular branch and like most of the students out there, are doing it for the B.Tech tag, you can opt for any of the branches. Both the branches at NIT Trichy are at par. You will get decent placement opportunities from both the branch, provided you maintain decent CGPA. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC offered by NIT Trichy is 6 LPA.

Should I take chemical at BITS Pilani or take a drop?

SM
Sayantani Mitra Posted On : July 20th, 2021
Studied at University of Mumbai (2019)

One of my friends studied Chemical Engineering at BITS Pilani. According to him, it is a really tough stream. It is suggested not to drop a year instead ensure that you work very hard.

  • Spend over 12 hours self study every single day for a year.
  • You should be able to get under 1000 rank in JEE next year which might be worth taking a year drop.
  • But if you have secured a much higher BITSAT score, and if you think you won't be able to work this hard, then simply take whatever you are getting at Pilani.
  • Try to graduate with a CGPA of 8.5+ and go for an MS/Ph.D. in any area of your interest.

Herewith I'm providing the basic details for BITS Pilani :

PARAMETERS BITS PILANI
Tuition Fees INR 1.78 LPA
Placement Percentage 99%
Average Package INR 17 LPA

If you opt to drop and secure admission in an IIT, you will be getting only one degree after 4 years. Whereas, you can get 2 individual degrees from BITS after 5 years. There is not much of a difference between BITS and IITs. It is certainly better than the new ones. The top 5 or 6 IITs are better than BITS but letting go of one more year might not be a wise decision.

You should choose BITS Goa Chemical. You will get better placement and exposure. BITS Goa placements 2021 had an average CTC of INR 9.05 LPA. While the highest CTC stood around INR 16 LPA.

You can also opt for the dual degree program at BITS, this will give you exposure to various branches of Engineering, during the first year. If you score a good GPA in your first year, you will be able to take the engineering branch of your interest.

How is NIT Raipur for chemical engineering?

AJ
Ankush Jain Posted On : March 20th, 2021
Bachelor of Technology Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Raipur (2019)

Chemical Engineering at NIT Raipur will definitely be a good choice. As far as facilities and other parameters are concerned, here’s what you should know.

Highlights:

  • The department has well-equipped laboratories and classrooms.
  • As far as faculty is concerned, all professors and teachers are well-experienced individuals. You will also have good industrial guidance as all of them have that kind of knowledge. If you are interested in research work, this is also being carried out by quite a few of the faculty. You will have good mentorship here.
  • The institute is quite strict about attendance and academics.
  • All the required software is available for the program, in the computer lab. They also have high internet speed there (around 75 Mbps).
  • There is also an association of students and faculty that will help you socialize. It’s specifically for students from this department and known as the Chemical Engineering Association of NIT Raipur. They organize a number of events like seminars, departmental sports, and workshops.
  • The department is also a student chapter of IIChE. This means it is a part of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
  • Lab safety protocols are also followed in the lab with fire safety provisions in place.

Overall, this is a great place to pursue chemical engineering in. You should definitely go ahead.

Which is better, IIT Delhi (chemical) or BITS Pilani (CSE)?

SG
Sushmita Gupta Posted On : April 3rd, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

Irrespective of whichever Institute you go for, CSE is the most demanded branch today and has the best pay scale and job prospects. So, if it’s placements you are after, then BITS Pilani CSE is the right choice for you.

However, if you want to become an entrepreneur then Delhi being the capital is the absolute best place for you. Choosing IIT Delhi on the pretext of learning coding in the last year is a wrong mindset and at the end of the day, you will find yourself with little exposure and knowledge than those who learned coding for 4 years.

Make a well-informed decision considering the pros and cons of both institutes and courses.

How is chemical engineering at Amrita?

IR
Indrani Raha Posted On : June 22nd, 2021
B.Tech Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering, Amrita University (2019)

One of my cousins studied at Amrita. According to him, chemical engineering at Amrita is superior and advanced in comparison with other colleges.

  • The faculty is highly knowledgeable with a doctorate degree. Classes are conducted in the most interesting and pleasant way that’ll work on enhancing the skills of students.
  • Although the resources are made available to the students based on their field of interest, it is on them to drill into all of it.
  • The better they have an understanding of the provided resources the more developed their skills are.
  • Moreover, the department encourages the students to take part in various projects that help them in obtaining a spot in internship and training programs.

However, the students do not get placements in core companies on their completion of UG course. Acquiring a job after higher studies would be less of a hassle. UG here would be a great choice.
