Both FSU and San Jose State are great schools which are considered well above average. But if we compare these two, FSU definitely has many added advantages in terms of facilities, campus life, program options and rankings.

Location wise and admission wise Florida State has a lot of benefits over SJSU. However, you’ll notice that FSU has been stronger in humanities and its STEM programs have not been that highly ranked. Here is a quick comparison:

Verdict:

  • FSU has higher tuition rates than San Jose State University (For internationals)
  • San Jose State University has a higher acceptance rate which indicates ease of admission
  • Both universities provide financial assistance to international students

Placements:

Florida State University has good humanities and arts programs with their graduates landing excellent job placements. With an 80% placement rate, its graduates have an average salary of 44,000 USD. Here are some salary insights as per Emolument:

Please note that San Jose offers excellent programs in STEM and its graduates have some of the highest paid jobs with a median starting salary of around 61,200 USD. It also offers 425 million USD as loans, grants, awards to international students as need-based aid.

FSU's location is also important to consider as pollution in the town of Tallahassee is way less than in Silicon Valley. This coupled with cheaper living costs and housing also makes it a much more desirable place to live and study in. Hence it is safe to say that both the universities are good and totally depends on what you are looking for.
