It is important to understand that the offers that XLRI HRM pass outs receive can vary significantly, as they come from a diverse range of industries. While it is true that the average median salary for XLRI HRM pass-outs is Rs. 9.5 lacs and the highest salary offered is Rs. 12 lacs, it is important to keep in mind that these figures are just estimates, and actual salaries may vary depending on a number of factors such as the specific industry, the company, the individual's skills and experience, and the location of the job.

For freshers, it is common for the starting salary to be in the range of Rs 3-4 LPA.

What is it like to be a pass out from XLRI, Jamshedpur with a degree in HR? Also, is HRM better than BM in XLRI?

GK
Gauri Kapoor Posted On : February 13th, 2023
Studied at Xavier School of Management.

In terms of outlook and objectives, the HRM and BM programs offered by XLRI Jamshedpur differ significantly. The BM program, for example, includes only two courses in Organization Behavior, whereas the HRM program includes three courses in the same subject.

The HRM program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful HR manager in today's fast-paced corporate environment. As a result, if you want to work in human resources, the HRM program is the best option. XLRI Jamshedpur is regarded as the best HR education institute in India, and being a part of the program gives you access to a rich alumni network of over 60 years, many of whom are in HR roles. This is a significant benefit. Similarly, the BM program has advantages, but the program's objectives differ from those of HRM. If you are admitted, you should not consider any other options.

How much does the HR from XLRI get paid? How is life after HRM from XLRI?

EB
Eshita Bakshi Posted On : May 25th, 2021
PGDBM Marketing & Operations Management, Xavier School of Management (2016)

One of my cousins graduated from XLRI, and he mentioned that for batch 2020, HRM has a median salary of INR 20.25 LPA. The highest package is INR 32.79 LPA, with an average salary of INR 21.15 LPA. It was increased by nearly 5.43% compared with last year.

More details regarding placements are listed below:

  • HRM’s 50th percentile salary stood at INR 20.25 LPA while the 75th percentile stood at INR 24.25 LPA.
  • More than 20% of the batch received packages of more than 25 LPA.
  • XLRI median salary increased to INR 23 LPA from INR 21 LPA in 2019.
  • The highest international package stood at INR 58.5 LPA with an average salary of INR 24.30 LPA. (increase from 22.35 lacs per annum in 2019).
  • Moreover, 43% of the batch received the highest offer made through PPOs.

One important thing to note down from the placement reports is that the profile and percentile of the candidates did not differ much but their packaging did. So, there is a lot of competition and a lot would depend on your individual potential and performances.

For life after MBA, specifically from HRM from XLRI, the way of viewing industry changes. You might be from a top B-school, but, living in the corporate sector totally depends on you and your skills (professional skills along with other interpersonal skills). To live a happy life you should maintain a work-life balance.

Which companies hire HRM people from XLRI? Is it true that HR professionals have less workload and their job is a bit relaxed than other roles?

NR
Nivedita Roy Posted On : May 14th, 2021
Studied at XLRI

Any professional who is from HR understands exactly what a business requires and manages the whole process from hiring an employee to their exit with talent management & development, compliance, engagement, etc.

Setting up organizational design and development for organizations are also covered by HR professionals. The employees are just a small aspect of the bigger picture.

  • My friend worked at the corporate compensation team and he used to simply work on his PC all the time. Getting into HR was because of the simple fact that he was good with numbers.
  • MBA programs that offer specialization in HRM, such as XLRI PGDHRM cover all the topics mentioned above in their course work. This is why people for HR roles are taken from XLRI.
  • According to the recent statistics, the major companies coming to the campus for recruiting HR students are McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.

Traveling isn't vital for HR professionals unlike what a consultant or salesman would do, the workload is, however, very similar. At the end of the day, that aspect falls on the employer culture rather than the department itself.

Do XLRI HRM students get placed in general consulting roles also?

GS
Gargi Sinha Posted On : October 1st, 2022
PGDHRM from Xavier School of Management

Yes, XLRI HRM students get placed in general consulting roles also. According to recent statistics, around 15% of students from HRM get placement opportunities in consulting firms. But most of these consulting jobs offered were either from Big4 or niche HR Consulting firms such as Mercer, Hewitt, Hay, etc. No sales/marketing roles are offered at XLRI. Management Trainee program is the only way to achieve a successful sales stint.

For preparing XLRI, HRM interview, you need to have a good command of the current budget-related issues. This could be done by reading the newspaper thoroughly and be up to date with the current affairs as they are the most predictable topics to be asked by the interviewer.

From the bachelor’s degree, select any two subjects of your interest and prepare them well. Try to improve the communication skills, be a good listener and a proactive person. Opt for coaching like CL for better guidance. Learn how to think analytically and logically and don’t rush to answers.

These are some points that you should keep in mind for the XLRI HRM interview.

Which are the dream companies for an XLRI HRM student?

HR
Hariharan Ragunathan Posted On : May 31st, 2021
Studied at Xavier School of Management (2018)

A dream company depends upon your choice and where your interest lies. Typically, HR Consulting, IR, Manufacturing, or Line HR Roles are more popular.

  • If you are interested in HR Consulting then Hay group, Accenture consulting are considered a dream as both of these companies pay significantly higher than other companies like Mercer or Hewitt.

  • If your interest lies in IR or Manufacturing then FMCG companies like P&G, Unilever, ITC, Asian Paints, etc should be your dream companies.

  • If you are interested in Line HR or corporate HR only then Novartis, Stan Chat, Microsoft, or other big banks and the Software or product based companies etc. are considered dream companies. Novartis offered their position in Switzerland so it was a dream for many students.

Despite this, some students may be more interested in joining startups and building systems from scratch than in joining existing companies.
