How does the CV of students who get selected in IIMs(any), ISB, XLRI, FMS, SPJIMER, JBIMS look like?
Naturally, it’s not possible to talk about CVs of all students who get selected at these B-schools. CVs of around the top 15-20% of students selected at IIMs, XLRI, FMS, or other popular management institutes are exceptional. But CV of an average student at these institutes usually has the following attributes.
Academics and Co-curricular activities:
Every student getting admission at these institutes doesn’t have international level or national level olympiads or other achievements. An average student usually has a few subject scores to boast about, a few competitive examination scores, some co-curricular activities, and a few certifications.
Work experience and Internships:
Most students have one or two job experiences. For this section, proper presentation helps a lot. If you present your job experience properly, your CV will look impressive.
Position of responsibilities:
Every student getting into IIM and other top management institutes doesn’t have exceptional PORs. Most student talks about their role in college fests and the responsibilities attached to it, NGO work, or a captain or vice-captain role in sports teams.
Extracurricular Activities:
Around 70% of students getting admission at these institutes have few social service initiatives, school/college level sports achievements, school/college level cultural achievements.
One of my friends recently graduated from SPJIMR, and his CV was average.
- Academics: 10th - 92.4%, 12th - 82.6%, Graduation - 77.09%
- He had nothing mentionable for Extra Curriculars and Positions of Responsibilities.
The two things that helped him get selected are his CAT score, i.e. 99.38 percentile, and work experience at a Top 20 Fortune 500 Automobile Firm.
This is the case for most students getting admission to these institutes. Only one or two sections of their CV stand out and the rest is fairly average.
Which is the best IISER among all the IISERs?
To decide which IISER to choose, here are the important factors to consider when comparing the five fully established IISERs - Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal, and Thiruvananthapuram:
- Research: All five IISERs are equally good in terms of academics and research.
- Facilities: The facilities provided in all five IISERs are top-notch and well-equipped to cater to all the needs of the students.
- BS-MS course: The BS-MS course provided in all five IISERs is of high quality and ensures a strong foundation in science and research.
- Campus facilities: The campus facilities vary across the IISERs, but they are all equipped with the basic amenities such as hostels, libraries, labs, and sports facilities.
- Extra-curricular activities and non-academic life: All IISERs provide ample opportunities for extra-curricular activities and non-academic life, with a variety of clubs and societies catering to different interests.
IISER Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram would not be recommended due to various factors.
Here's how to rank the five IISERs based on preference:
Pune and Mohali (equal preference) > Bhopal > Kolkata > Thiruvananthapuram
What is the average package for a UPTU AKTU pass out student Is it better to join AKTU than private colleges like LPU and SRM?
If you have been acquainted with institutes affiliated with AKTU, like, A.K Garg, KIET, ABES, NIET, GNIT, ITS Engineering College, G.L Bajaj, and others, then you should know that there are several companies that visit the campus, yet at times, the packages seem to vary. The average package is about INR 2.2 LPA to 3.2 LPA.
However, there are several students who grab packages above average, ranging from between INR 4.5 LPA to 6 LPA. Most of these packages are bagged by Computer Science and IT students since their demand is surfacing drastically every day.
Now, if comparing on various important parameters, then both the institutes can be bifurcated in two ways,
- AKTU/UPTU: If you are efficient, you can receive one of the best packages in the market. The training and placement cell, in addition, are consistently working with great attention to help students secure a good position in the industrial market.
- LPU and SRM: The only major criteria that make both universities stand out is their campuses. Having numerous lab amenities, established infrastructure, and fancy canteen areas. Academically speaking, LPU still offers practical knowledge on different spectrums, and also additionally conducts intercollegiate technical events.
It depends on which of the aspects suits you the most.
Are IISERs better than IITs in terms of research and scope for higher education abroad in basic sciences like physics?
If you wish to pursue Physics or any branch of pure science, you must opt for IISc, IISERs, and IITs in that order only. If you wish to have a career in research, then you should opt for the first two. If you wish to grab a good job, then you should go for an IIT.
IITs are usually made of 40% research and 60% teaching and it is good if you are willing to do a B.Tech and join industry jobs. IISERs are more research-oriented.
Both IITs and IISERs have nice faculty with good research labs and research papers. It would be better to read the findings of the research papers of the faculty under whom you would be studying, before choosing an institute. If you wish to pursue higher education outside of India, you can do that anyway even if you are not from an IIT or IISER, or IISc. So, do your research and choose according to your convenience.
Which is a better college Hindu ,Hansraj, Ramjas ,Miranda House as a whole?
Among these four colleges, the college order for the best college would be - Hindu>Hansraj>Miranda>Ramjas
- Hindu is the best among them as it has the best placements and is a place for many other opportunities like extra-curricular activities. Only the colleges like St. Stephens, LSR, and SRCC can compete with a college like Hindu.
- Hansraj is good for NSS, clubs, and the CSE department as it has a friendly and helpful faculty. It is a 30-minute distance from the metro and is far from the metro station.
- Miranda is the same as Hansraj but the only difference is that it is co-ed and is near the metro. In academics, it's the same as the Hansraj.
- Ramjas doesn't have a good administration nor a good crowd. Students have created chaos on the campus by involving in fights. Although, one needs to do good research before getting to a conclusion for Ramjas.
Therefore, Miranda, Hindu, and Hansraj would be better options. However, a student should take admission to Miranda College as it is near to the station and has a good cut-off.
Did anyone change their IIM interview date? If yes, what reason did you give?
You can get the date of the IIM interview changed. You just need to mail the Admission Office of the University requesting the rescheduling by giving a genuine reason behind the same. You have to be honest and polite yet straightforward.
There are lots of people who request a change of interview date because of clashing schedules or another major exam on the same date. The reason must be valid otherwise your request will not be considered.
What are the chances of getting an IIM with academics 88/70/65, and how much percentile should I get to get a chance for older IIMs?
It is understandable that your 12th and graduation scores are not up to the mark for the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) A, B, and I. Even IIM L may also be difficult for you to secure a call from because of your low scores. However, it is important for you to know that there are other options available to you. Even though it may be challenging, it is still possible to secure a call from IIM C and IIM K with a very high CAT score of 99.9 or above. Unfortunately, it seems that IIM Shillong may also not be an option for you due to your low score in 12th.
Given this situation, it is advisable for you to give your best effort in preparing for the Common Admission Test (CAT) and also consider appearing for other entrance exams like the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) and the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). With a decent CAT score of 99.8 or above, you may have a chance at prestigious institutes like the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), the Management Development Institute (MDI), and some Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Additionally, keep in mind that the weightage of the entrance exam and interview is very high for IIFT, so it is important for you to prepare well for that as well.
It is worth mentioning that, although your current scores may seem like a setback, it does not mean that your aspirations should be limited. Keep in mind that there are many other options available, and with hard work and determination, you can still achieve your goals. Remember to keep your head held high and keep pushing forward.
How would you arrange these in terms of education quality- CBIT, VASAVI, MVSR, VNR, SNIST, MGIT, GRRR?
All these colleges are good at their own places and in terms of ranking. It becomes difficult to arrange these colleges in terms of education quality as everyone possesses a good hold on education.
The quality is the same and it all depends upon the students. There are few who don’t get a job even after 3 years of grad and while some are hard workers.
Let’s take a look below at the arrangement of these colleges: CBIT>VASAVI> MVSR >VNR >SNIST>MGIT>GRRR
These particular colleges contain what matters the most. They have the best professors as they need to maintain their repo. One of my friends is an alumnus from VNR and told me that these colleges have everything that you would want into Engineering.
VASAVI too has its own ways, which do well. CBIT and SNIST are also good. CBIT and VNR are a little freedom-giving. None of the four compromises on the students’ education track record.
How much percentile is required to get a call from IIM Ranchi PGDHRM for a general category?
To be shortlisted for the IIM Ranchi PGDHRM program, it is generally required for a candidate to have a percentile of more than 92%. Keep in mind that the CAT score is not the only factor that is considered for the shortlisting process.
The graduation score and work experience are also taken into account, with a weightage of 15% and 10% respectively. Therefore, it is important to have a strong overall profile to increase the chances of being shortlisted for the program.
IIM Ranchi reserves the right to alter or modify the shortlisting and selection criteria for the MBA-HR program, as well as any other information related to the admissions criteria document, at any time if deemed necessary.
Which is a better college: KGMC, VMMC, Seth GS, Mumbai, SMS Jaipur, GMCH Chandigarh, or LHMC?
There are a lot of people who go around saying that MBBS colleges do not matter. Which is not entirely true. Although students rarely opt for MBBS without MD what makes MBBS important is that it is the building block of how you will approach your patients in the future and your profession as a whole.
VMMC has an internal PG. PG is about the desired branch and not just any branch. You will have a number of options for pursuing your preferred branch if you take NEET.
None of the institutes mentioned here have reservations for internal PG seats. If you don’t have any preference in terms of the city, your preference order should be somewhat like the following.
- LHMC
- VMMC
- Seth HS Mumbai
- KGMC Lucknow
- GMCH Chandigarh
- SMS Jaipur
