Tezpur University Mechanical Engineering

Remarks :

In B. Tech., 60% of seats are reserved for north-east residents and 40% seats are open for all India. The admission is done on the basis of JEE main rank. Application forms are available on university website for North East Residents and for 40% seats, admission is done through JOSAA/CSAB. Reservation benefits are given as per central government rule in JOSAA/CSAB.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Mechanical Engineering is one of the core engineering branches in which we study mainly automobiles, manufacturing, and materials. student and faculty ratio is nearly about 18:1. Faculties are knowledgeable. Most of the faculties have done their Ph. D. from reputed colleges like IITs. Exams are on time and in one semester, 4 exams are there including the term-end exam. You can manage to pass the exams by going through the faculty class notes.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are offered by IVIA for the role of Backend developer with a handsome stipend. Numaligarh refinery limited, North frontier railway, and IOCL are major companies that offer internships without stipends in the mechanical engineering domain. one student got ATLAN to offer an internship with a handsome stipend. Many students apply for internships through Linkedin.

Placement Experience :

From the seven semesters, students are eligible for the placements. A good number of company visits to campus for placement drives. Some companies are OIL, L&T, Tata Technology, Amazon, Cognizant, Capgemini, etc. Each company gives almost 7-8 offers and some IT giants give 15-20 offers. For OIL, senior officer profile, the Package is almost between 15-20 lakhs per annum. almost 80-90% of students get placed. I am planning to go for a job after the degree.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees are very low compared with other colleges. Fees hike is very and you can get free studentship if your family has a BPL card. If you have no BPL card, you can apply for a concession in fee to the COE and they give a concession if your case seems genuine.

Campus Life :

There are various schools in the university and engineering courses fall under the school of engineering. TechXetra was the tech fest of the school of engineering but due to unavoidable circumstances, it was stopped. Students are really trying to resume the Fest. We have a big central library where you can get many books and journals. Classrooms are well equipped with all modern facilities like projectors. University has different grounds/courts for playing games like Basketball, Volleyball, cricket, football, tennis, archery, Badminton, etc. Various clubs are active like the photography club, animal welfare club, robotic society, Gyanmalini, NSS, NCC, IEEE, etc.

Placement Experience:

The placements at Tezpur University are rather a nightmare. It offers very less opportunities in terms of placements. Big companies do not visit the campus. Mostly TCS visits the university and recruits the freshers. From our batch the highest package received was 6LPA and only 3-4 people were placed with below-average packages. The % of students getting placed is very low even for a central university. Maximum students need to opt for higher studies or go for off-campus placement due to lack of placement.

In the 7th semester, students become eligible for placements and can sit in placement rounds till the end of the 8th semester if they are not yet placed. A lot of tech companies like Microsoft, amazon visit during campus placement and they recruit a lot of students. The highest placement is 44 LPA and the average package is 15 LPA . 74% of the students eligible for placement got placed. After getting the degree I would like to work at a tech company and grow along my career.

Placement Experience:

The placements are decent, nothing to gasp about but impressive nonetheless. The placement percentage is above 90 for most batches and almost all people get placed with a 13-16 LPA job on average. The highest package so far has been 1cr+, but it was off campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to become a software engineer that's why I chose this course. There are a total of around 130 students in my class. Facilities are much qualified and hold degrees like M. Sc. M. Tech, Ph.D. All the exams are held on time and it is easy to pass the exam.

Last year students are eligible for campus placements. There are many companies like Amazon, Wipro, ICICI Bank, Infosys, and many more. According to the college information highest placement is 25lakhs/annum and the average is around 4-5lakhs/annum. Nearly around 60-70% of students get jobs in campus placement, I am planning to give GATE or any other competitive exam after my graduation.

Don't worry about placements, they are quite good. Our campus highest package this year is 2.5 cr/annum There are many other stats on our official website, you can refer to that. Mostly many people get interns in their 5th or 6th sem and get placed at the end of the 7th sem. I will talk more about this after going the second year atleast

The average placement of our department last year was about 4.93LPA and almost 80% of students got placed. The placement scenario is changing and good companies have started to visit the campus post covid. Many PSU too comes for direct recruitment. Students in the core branch either prepare for GATE or aim for higher studies.

Most probably the students are made aware of internships and jobs during the 5th semester. Popular brands like AMUL, ITC, Britannia, etc have visited the university for campus placement and the total number of offers made during the session 20-21 is 25. The highest package was around 5.5 lpa and the average was about 4.09 lpa. After graduating I might apply for placements or pursue my masters

Placement Experience:

Almost all students are placed who study hard in college.placement percentage is less but considering north east quota having 60% students admitted also on 200000 to 500000 rank placement is good if you neglect those students.Keep in mind if you study well here then you will end up getting job after 4 years. If you don't study well then you might not get job.so come in this college only when you are sure that you will study.
