A reasonable 3rd tier college for Engineering

Remarks :

I opted for the college through the cap round which was conducted after the state-level common entrance exam by the Maharashtra government. Students opting through this method get seats allocated according to their preferences and marks gained. Application forms were provided on the net website and the entire cap allotment process was done online. Then we were asked to visit our allocated colleges and complete our admission processes. We were asked to submit our documents and pay our fees (all at once) then the admission was completed. Well, the admission process is perfect if you ask me with enough chances given to students to select their desired college. Scholarships are provided by the government too for candidates in various categories. I availed of the Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu scheme where there is a 40% concession from the total academic fees. The scheme is available for students from financially weak backgrounds. We had to submit the necessary documents(income certificate, ration card, etc).

Course Curriculum Overview :

Well, the college is non-autonomous and comes under the Pune university (sppu). We have curriculums given by the university which are followed by all the colleges under it. The teaching is both practical as well as theoretical based. The faculty members are well-qualified with masters and post-graduate degrees. But, there is a certain level of lacking when it comes to practical knowledge that students at times are left confused. Otherwise, exams are conducted regularly. Exams are conducted twice in a semester and are easy to pass if we stay consistent. I chose Computer Engineering because of my keen interest in the subject and its attractive packages. The student-to-faculty ratio is 100:1 nearbout.

Placement Experience :

Well, the students get placement starting from the 3rd year of college. Students also start getting internships too from the same semester. There is a wide range of companies that visit the college ex: Cognizant, Tcs, Infosys, Barclays, Uno Minda, New-gen, Faurecia, SHV energy, etc. Last year there were 110 students with packages above 7 LPA. The highest package was 45 LPA by Microsoft while the average package is 5 LPA. There is a 90% campus placement opportunity. I plan to work after my degree in a renowned MNC.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Well, the fees are pretty low compared to other colleges. The fees include the tuition as well as co-curricular activities. The scholarship is provided by the Maharashtra government to all the category students based on their compatibility. We have to register with the government website and submit the necessary documents in the given time. Scholarships are also available for residential candidates who live in hostels. I currently get thE Shri Rajarshi Shahu tuition waiver scheme.

Campus Life :

Well, the campus life is pretty good as the college comes under the Akurdu educational complex so there is huge room for all the activities. There are cultural fests conducted regularly by different departments. However, sports activities are rare. There is also all kinds of clubs present which held boot camps and workshops for students to increase their technical knowledge. The library is available for free to the students and books can be issued through a library card. Classrooms are spacious and have proper ventilation with projectors installed to share ppts.

Hostel Facilities :

Well, the hostel is pretty costly with rooms available for 3 costing 1,40,000 and rooms for 2 cost 1,90,000. This includes both the stay as well as food. However, rooms are available at much cheaper rates outside for boys with rents varying from 2500-3500 and we have to pay separately for food. The overall cost goes nearabout 8k to 9k. Rooms are available in nearby areas i.e. in Gurudwara chowk and Dharmaraj chowk. The food is pretty good too with a wide variety of shops available all around the area.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The professor is highly knowledgeable they are very supportive if we find any difficulty from any problem then they help a lot with it. Exams are in every month and final semester exams are there If we study hard then exams are not tough. Negative point is that sometimes faculty say anything bad so it gets irritated.
