Remarks :
Pharmacy at the University of Kashmir is done through the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) in 2022. Earlier it was used to be done by the university itself through an entrance examination but now the criteria have changed and now the BOPEE is offering admission to bpharma courses through them in many govt/private pharmacy Institutes including the university of Kashmir. This year(2022), the ist batch of ist year biopharma in the university of Kashmir came through bopee, and that too on a merit basis. So this year the selection was based purely on the 12th class percentage and from now onwards don't know what they will do. Eligibility:12th (physics, chemistry, biology, or PCM) with at least 50% for open and 45 for reserved.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose this profession because I was quite interested in it and there was some kind of family relevance to the pharmacy profession. Enough faculty for the students like 1 for 2 students. All teachers are having Ph.D. or even some are having double PDFs. They teach well and then it all depends on your hard work. There are three internals and a lot of surprise tests and believe my exams at the Kashmir university are the toughest ones and if you like to lose the rope you will fall into the deep well. A lot of backlogs students face. So you have to study even if you don't like it.
Internships Opportunities :
You will have an internship of 30 days with a pharmaceutical company which the department mostly calls the industrial internship. And also according to PCI, you will have to do a 40 days hospital internship in a reputed hospital. Students mostly do internships through university and in Reputable companies like Medley, sun pharma, gsk, Cipla, etc, and also do hospital practice in prestigious Institutes like Skims source.
Placement Experience :
Last semester. Glenmark visited last year. Also medley visited some years back, but not enough placements within the campus. They hired a few students and offered a basic pay of 25k/month. Highest package:-30k. 1-2%. I am going to appear in GPAT and if I cracked it will give another entrance examination in NIPER and will go for the pharmaceutical MBA or Master in Clinical Pharmacology.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
You have to pay 11705 each year [but in your ist semester you have to pay 11705 +12000(tour fees) only in ist year]. And for each examination, you have to pay 2500-3000 depending upon the university fees examination fee policy. You can get a scholarship of 20-25k /annually through the Ministry of Minority Affairs as you fall in the professional category. So you can apply for Merit-cum-means scholarship to avail the benefit. Less placements happen within the campus, last year(2022) there was a campus placement where a pharmaceutical company (Glenmark) hired two Sales executives for a salary of 30k.
Campus Life :
You will get the best environment to study there. 24×7 reading room is there on the campus and it is the best place to study. Sonzal(in November). Freshers meet(when you will join the university). Talent hunt(every year) You will get access to a lot of books and journals, and whatever you want you will get that as the valley's biggest library Allama Iqbal library is situated on the campus. Classrooms are well furnished with the benches plus have projectors and yeah hot and cold facilities also Intra-department and inter-department tournaments in every sport held every year. There is a wing Called DSW which holds all social groups within the campus.
