Career Prospects of pursuing MBA at IM-BHU

Remarks :

Admission into IM-BHU requires aspirants to appear COMMON ADMISSION TEST (CAT) conducted by IIMs followed by applying online at the BHU Online Admissions Portal. Shortlisted candidates would then be required to appear in Group Discussions and Personal Interview Rounds before qualifying for Slot booking if eligible. The cutoff remains around the 80-85 percentile for General Category along with reservations for other categories. The deadline for filing the forms generally is on the day of the result declaration of the CAT exam.

Course Curriculum Overview :

MBA is one of the greatest courses to pursue on this planet to build future managers of the country and shape Indian economy in the years to come. IM-BHU is among the topmost premier management institutes of the country which boasts the best return on investment being a part of Central University. The faculty-to-student ratio of 0.25 is amazing and the faculty are quite experienced and highly qualified. The teaching method includes case studies, roleplays, and simulations along with conventional teaching and presentations. The exams are conducted right on time and provide a great experience on grounds of learning and evaluation of our understanding and application of concepts.

Internships Opportunities :

Summer Internship forms a crucial part of the course curriculum itself. Premier companies like DHL, CLSA, ICICI Pru AMC, and ICICI Bank offer internship opportunities to students for a period of 2 months during May-June.

Placement Experience :

Placement season starts around 3rd semester (2nd year) at most by November. Companies like IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Genpact, ICICI Bank, L&T, KPMG, Mahindra, SBI MF, Writer corp, and Yes Bank are among the major recruiters. The average package this year has been 11.3 lpa while the median package is 10.3 lpa with the highest package of 35 LPA by UNIQLO.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The course fees for two years is 1 lakh. The hostel fee per year is 7000 only excluding mess charges. Meritorious students can apply for National as well as Uttar Pradesh Scholarship along with other scholarship schemes as well as financial assistance opportunities for students in need.

Campus Life :

The beauty of Banaras Hindu University is in its rich cultural and traditional heritage which promotes the spirit of character, integrity, and enterprise among the students. The lush green campus is one of the world's largest campuses. Annual fests held by IM-BHU are Unnayan (Cultural), Ransangram, and Pratispardha (Sports) conducted by clubs VisVires and Kalpavriksha respectively as well as events by other departments open to all BHU students like Spardha (Sports) 2022 & Kashiyatra 2023 (IIT-BHU), Elixir 2022 (Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU).

Hostel Facilities :

Twin-sharing rooms are allocated to students based on merit taking into consideration an index prepared on the basis of Candidate scores as well as the distance from Hometown. Hostels are allowed on the same day of the Physical Document verification process after admission. The mess remains closed once a week on Saturday night. The hostel fees are a meager 7000 per annum excluding mess charges.

Interview Experience :

Due to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, I only appeared for an online Personal Interview round during the admission procedure. I was asked questions ranging from Economics, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs as well as technical questions from Agriculture which I completed as an undergraduate in it apart from basic questions like Why MBA? Why switch to a different career path? The weightage for shortlisting was 85 % for CAT and 15 % for Personal Interviews. From 2023 onwards, Group Discussions rounds shall also be conducted as part of the admission procedure.

Course Curriculum Overview:

To explore more career opportunities in my domain, I wanted to pursue a degree in management. This led me to IMT. Our college currently has a 1:60 faculty-student ratio. The faculty are all learned people with extensive academic as well as Industry experience and the pedagogy is very well executed. One of the best in the country, for sure. The teaching is mostly case-based unless it is a quantitative subject. MBA is a rigorous program and most colleges offer the trimester system where a huge amount of exams, presentations, assignments, and quizzes will keep you on your toes all the time. Be well prepared to work beyond normal hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have given several entrance exams for different courses but when I get to know about MHRM, it attracts me a lot because it was the first time University introduce a specialised course in the management field. The faculty and student ratio is 1:20. All faculty members are highly qualified and have teaching experience across the country and out of the country as well. All have done PhD in different domains. They adopt the very interactive teaching method because the lecture method will not work at the college level. The term exams were held very timely because each semester has 6 months duration, so after the first 2 months, there was the 1st unit test and after 4 months again 2nd unit test and after 6 months of teaching there were term or semester exams. The level was very moderate because easy to difficult level-type questions were asked in the exams. So there was very difficult to pass the exams.
