IIT Bombay offers you the best, but still has scope for improvement - which you can bring about! :)

Remarks :

The course (B. Tech. in Civil Eng.) takes entry only through JEE Advanced paper. Students after 12th (either just after 12th class or after a drop year) give JEE Main, and if they qualify in this, they can sit for JEE Advanced, a merit is formed based on their performance and the branch and seats are filled as per the merit/rank list of JEE Advanced. The details for reservation benefits are clearly mentioned on govt. portals (NTA website), and you can refer there for any further details, which should be available easily. The application form can be found on the official govt. website of NTA (National Testing Agency), the application fee for JEE Main (Attempt 1) is? 1000, for JEE Main (Attempt 2) is? 1000, for JEE Advanced, is? 2900 for 2023.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is outdated as per global standards but within India, it is still among the best and most updated Though it does not hamper your learning as the basics are made clear, and the research faculty is doing is in very advanced stages, hence if students are genuinely interested, they can reach out to Professors and learn about the latest happenings all around the world in their field. The faculty-student ratio is also good at IIT Bombay at about 1:10. In some departments it may differ. Professors are among the best not only in India but in the world. You will find all types here, those who are into research, those who like teaching, and those who are a mix of both. The rule is simple if you want to learn something you'll get the best for it here, but you'll have to ask for it. Term exams are tough and the timeline is very strictly followed.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship companies are again somewhat similar to placements. They offer stipends ranging from ?50k/month to ?12Lakh/month. Companies come from all sectors, finance, consulting, core, IT, software, etc. A few companies are Flow Traders, Optiver, Bain, NRI, Cashflo, etc. Projects are not officially required as such, but students can willingly opt for them under the guidance of the Professor of their choice based on their interests. The outcomes of projects are mostly research publications or conference paper presentations.

Placement Experience :

Campus placements start in the pre-final semester and are completed before the beginning of the final semester. Everyone is placed somewhere or the other, might or might not receive their dream offer or company, but generally, everyone is able to convert a decent firm's decent offer. BCG, Google, Microsoft, Bain, Mckinsey, Cohesity, Blackrock, Kearney, and Strategy& are a few of the companies that visit regularly. Highest package runs in crores (?4cr/year) for international locations - Hongkong or the US. The highest within India is also close to ?2.5cr, the average package is ~?25LPA. Greater than 95% of students get decent placements. I'll be exploring jobs after the degree, and might go for higher education as well sometime after experiencing a few years.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee is modestly close to the? 2,00,000 per year for tuition fees, additionally you'll have to pay? 90,000 for the mess, hostel, sports, hospital and other facilities for an entire year. Hence, the total fee for a year is closer to the? 2,90,000. It might seem huge, but you'll not have to pay a penny outside this and you'll get all the services at IIT Bombay included in this itself. Normally free revision is done by a separate committee every year, and it is as per the policies which are quite legitimate. I did not receive any scholarships as they are only given to students from economically weaker sections and there are provisions for such scholarships. Students whose family income is less than ? 8,00,000 and whose CPI>6.0 are not required to pay tuition fees under Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship. The full fee is waived for students with less than ? 5,00,000 income. There are plenty of other named scholarships by our Alumni and believe me, funds won't be a problem if you want to study at IIT Bombay.

Campus Life :

Clubs: consulting, finance, tech, F1 racing, Mars rover, AUV, Cedrica Asia's biggest cultural festival - Mood Indigo (Dec.), Asia's biggest technical festival - TechFest (Dec. or Jan.), Asia's biggest Entrepreneurial summit - The E-Summit (Feb.), Asia's biggest social festival - Abhyuday (Feb.) All kinds of books (digital and hard copy) are available at the central library of IIT Bombay. There is an online system as well to issue the books and find the exact location of those books on the shelves. Classrooms have cushioned seats, ACs, well lit, boards comparable to MIT in the US. World-class Olympic standard sports facilities for every sport, basketball, swimming, football, hockey, squash, badminton, tennis, table tennis, gym, kho kho, etc. We have 3 big auditoriums at student dispense to be used for all kinds of events, and a separate student activity centre (SAC) where all the clubs and student bodies have dedicated rooms for an internal purpose, hence cultural exist.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels are inside the campus, everything is just a 10 minutes walk from your room. Hostels have a cot, a chair, a table, an internet LAN connection (high-speed up to 1gbps), a light, a fan, an almirah, a window, a cloth hanging area, and other basic amenities inside the room. The washrooms are common, clean and well-maintained. Mess is available in every hostel on the ground floor itself, and the food served is decent and healthy. Moreover, you have all the options veg./no veg/ generally available at anyone's home. The charge is also set by govt. and hence is pretty affordable. Your basic meal structure (4 times meal, Breakfast, lunch, snacks evening, dinner with milk) is covered in? 40,000 for an entire year. There is also a cloth washing facility in every hostel and is free. Hostels have in-house indoor games and limited outdoor games areas and instruments as well, for eg: Foosball, Table tennis, badminton, football ground, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The professor is highly knowledgeable they are very supportive if we find any difficulty from any problem then they help a lot with it. Exams are in every month and final semester exams are there If we study hard then exams are not tough. Negative point is that sometimes faculty say anything bad so it gets irritated.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The best thing about this college is its teachers. they are helpful in academics. I choose computer engineering because it's going to run for a long time and also have an interest in languages so I prefer it. the student ratio would be around 60/40 boys /girls. there are smartboards present for teaching and also many labs where students can go and sit there is no restriction which is one of the good points. for exams, there are mid and end sem per year and in between them there are in total of 4 unit tests conducted.
