Isabella Thoburn College - the best girls college in Lucknow

Remarks :

An MCQ-based entrance exam was held based on the intermediate level. The application form is to be collected offline from the college campus which is strategically located in the city. I belong to the unreserved category but the college provides reservations as per the guidelines of Govt. of India. Being a minority college, it is an autonomous body, graded A by NAAC and it gives reservations to Christian girls. It is an all-girls college. I would really appreciate it if the admission process takes place virtually and if the college manages the website properly.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Due to my keen interest in life sciences, I opted for a B.Sc in biology. The student-to-faculty ratio is 40:1, which is quite good. The faculty is very good, everyone holds a PhD degree and is always eager to help the students. They use various teaching methods, usually by videos or in botany they take you to the plant you are studying about. Assessments were done on monthly basis and it was compulsory to give the tests, the results were put on the notice board by the end of the first week of the month. A detailed datasheet with the syllabus was provided in advance to the student.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Two types of courses were offered -regular and self-finance. The fee for Self-finance was around 25,000/per year but the regular courses were for around 10,000 per year. The classes were held separately for both. I was a regular course student. Many scholarships like Sarah chaako, Sumangla Kanya yojana etc were provided to meritorious girls by the college and the Uttar Pradesh government.

Campus Life :

AURA is the name of the annual fest which was celebrated usually in October. AURA is a very famous inter-college fest in Lucknow. Apart from the annual fest, many fests were organized the special one was the Christmas celebrstio which lasted for a week, starting with the cake mixing ceremony to Cantata, DJ eve and finally Christmas eve. The college library has a very good collection you can find a wide variety of books apart from the course-related books too. The college celebrated its centenary year in 2022 so the building is quite old and gives Hogwarts kind of vibes. Annual sports week is also organized and many activities like extempore, debates. poster making etc. are held on a regular basis. Every Thursday chapel period is held. Various departments of the college have various clubs.

I want to do this because of my interest in the field. Students in the class are 100-200 and there were different faculty for each. Teaching is good but needs improvement. The classes are regular. Exam is quite difficult and assessment is given to us.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have an interest in academics and want to be a professor so that I can spread knowledge, that's why I have chosen this course. Faculty members are excellent in their fields. They are very helpful and supportive. They give advice apart from studies also and are very helpful and knowledgeable. They go with 1to 1 interact with the students and organise various seminars, career counselling programmes, and alumni meetings so as to acknowledge children about the several courses and college history. All the teaching faculty are PhD holders and stand excellent in their respective fields of knowledge. The teaching process is mainly done by the board system in this course and the classes are run by a systematic timetable which is provided by the faculty members themselves. There is a semester system and the exam is conducted every 6 months for the duration of 3 years if pursuing the undergraduate course. But according to NEP 3 years is shifted to 4 years. Exam pattern is very easy if the student has studied.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the course because I was interested in learning mathematics. The faculty-student ratio in the department of mathematics is approximately 20:1. The facilities here are highly qualified with all of them having a Ph.D. and are masters in their respective fields. The exams are conducted timely here every semester and results are published on time.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So I chose bsc in maths for my graduation. The faculty members are ok.. neither very satisfactory nor bad. The student teacher ratio is basically in my section 40:1 . The teachers are very much qualified and phd holders and some teachers they lack teaching skills tbh but some teachers are reallyyyy great. And when it comes to exams only the semester exams and viva/practical are there no tests.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose BSc ZBC because I here that Persuing BSC ZBC from Lucknow Christian Degree College (L.C.D.C) is best in comparison to any other colleges in Lucknow and this thought was correct when I started studying here. faculty teachers are good and some of them are friendly they also help you with your doubts but at exams time the teachers were busy with their work so don't expect from them on exam time. There are 5 teachers and 120 students in one section In One Department there were 2 sections. Teachers are highly qualified and well standard. There are a Semester wise exam held here at Lucknow University. If you even have basic knowledge about your course then you can pass your exams but that was not too easy.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The faculty and course curriculum matches the expectations. The professors are always open to solving problems and queries regarding the same. The teaching is smooth as far as I evaluated cuz everything from explaining the diagrams by presentation to the detailed description in laboratory classes is a great experience. The faculty is great and highly educated (many have PH.Ds and M.S) and cooperative. The exams are conducted semester wise and every semester is predefined for the convenience of the candidates. The 30:70 ratio of marks is dedicated to the internal and end-sem exams respectively. To be very honest, the course is limited and specifically defined already which makes it easier for students to focus on the required content (either on the internet or in books) without getting confused. Also, I felt it is easy to get past exams if you are able to dedicate 4-5 days to each paper before exams alongside consecutive study throughout the semester.

This college is well known for its discipline purpose. NPGC mainly focuses on academics rather than focusing on extracurriculars it focuses on studies. The staff and teachers are very supportive though. They help in academic practicals as well as in competitive exams.
