BITS Pilani - Its Magic

Remarks :

BITS Pilani conducts the BITSAT entrance examination for admissions to Undergraduate Degrees. There are 3 Indian campuses - Pilani, Hyderabad, and Goa. The admission process of my college is centralized and iterations take into account your choice of preference of branch and campus. Admission is done purely on the basis of merit and there is no reservation in any form. The application fee and other relevant details can be found on the BITS ADMISSION website. The admission process at my college is Smooth.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is well structured and you are given the freedom to choose any course at any point in time provided you have fulfilled the prerequisites. You are given the freedom to build your own timetable and choose your own professors. 100% of the Professors are experienced and have a well-performed post-doctorate from a reputed university. There is faculty to student ratio of around 1:3 in every branch and you can approach any Professor with your doubts. Evaluations are one of the most brainstorming times where papers are mostly original and are difficult to score higher marks.

Internships Opportunities :

The students have to complete Practice School as a part of Degree requirements where students are sent for 2.5 and 5. 5 months of Internship to different locations at companies for industrial exposure. All roles including core, IT, finance, and management are present.

Placement Experience :

All three campus has a centralized PS and Placement facility. The PS is an internship every student has to pursue mandatorily in order to complete the degree in 2nd and final year. Most of the students get places in PS2 whereas the rest sit for Placement and get placed. The exact statistics are not released but apparently, there are 100% chances of getting placed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The complete fee structure is given during the admission time. Mostly there is financial Assistance which is a merit cum need scholarship for students having a grade point greater than 6 with a boundary in family income.

Campus Life :

The campus is too friendly with interactive juniors and seniors. There are about 300 clubs, departments, associations, and technical teams. The majority of them are much active and perform immensely in international competitions. The BITS Library is one of the biggest libraries with a huge number of textbooks. Every class is equipped with AC and you can book any classroom in if needed.

Hostel Facilities :

Every student has to avail of the hostel and mess facility. The hostels provided in 1st and 2nd year are double sharing while for the rest of the years are single sharing. The mess food is too good and the food is actually tasty. The mess and the hostels are hygienic and cleaning and maintenance are done every day.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Electrical Engineering because I have a diploma in Electrical Engineering and I want to continue in the Electrical field only. The faculty of the PCEs were not highly qualified, mostly they are B.tech holders. There was 4 batch for the Electrical section and each section have more than 60 students. They use difficult patterns for term exams, if a student scores good marks in term exams then he/she will easily clear the university final exams.

Here, the college invites companies for recruiting us. All the top companies visit our college. I am not aware of the exact selectivity rate, but it is good. The highest package was offered in domestic for 90lacs by Polygon. The average package is 18-19 lacs for all departments, and 30 lacs for IT placements. My plans after getting a degree are to do a job for 2 years and then MS. Students get recruited for internship from 3rd year onwards.
