College Review

Remarks :

For getting into B.Tech there are two options, either through UPSEE Counseling or through direct admission. For direct admission, refer to the official website of PSIT and register there. You'll get a call or an email. You'll be called to the college after that with the requested documents. The application starts around August or September (keep checking around that time). Although, I took the UPSEE exam in 2020 and got into this college through its counseling. I got a rank of 1320. Though I was eligible for other colleges too, I chose this as the placements of PSIT were better than theirs. UPSEE happens around June/July every year. It is similar to JEE mains(probably easier than mains). A rank of under 20k would be sufficient enough to get into the computer science branch.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose B.Tech in computer science as it seemed the most promising one. The placements in computer science were exceptionally good than other branches. The faculty to students ratio here is approx. 1:60. The faculty is qualified enough, many of the professors are Ph.D. holders and some of them are currently pursuing a Ph.D. or research in some or the other institutes. The teaching method of the faculties is average. Neither too good nor too bad. If you're a person who loves attending classes then you'd find it pretty interesting. The final term exams are conducted by the university this college is affiliated with (AKTU). They are held a bit late every time due to the university schedules. And on average, it is not that difficult to pass them.

Placement Experience :

The students become eligible for placements after the sixth semester completes. The major companies visiting are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Walmart, Capgemini, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, Commvault, etc. Companies like Infosys and TCS make offers in large numbers while others take less number of students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee is constant for a course you're once admitted to. I was admitted in the year 2020. And back then the fee was 170300/year. Therefore I need to pay the same for the next 4 years. And if you opt for a hostel then the fee is 96000 for AC rooms and 88000 for Non AC rooms. There is a scholarship policy available that the university provides to those whose family income is less than 6L/annum. Other than that there is no other financial assistance available. And since no company comes on campus for internships and placements they come around in June when you're in your 6th seventh semester. I'm still some months away from placements, but for previous batches the average package is 10LPA.

Campus Life :

The annual Techno-cultural fest is named Ignitia which happens around Feb every year. This is a single fest that happens cultural and tech fest are combined. The library has a large variety of books and journals. Although the timings are very very less. For girls, it is 9 am to 7:30 pm. And for boys, it is 9 am to 10 pm. Since the classes run from 9 am to 5 pm, there are only a few hours left to avail of the facility of library. Classrooms are equipped with all the required amenities and they are air-conditioned.

Hostel Facilities :

The rooms are provided with minimum furniture. A bed, a table, a chair, a mattress, and an almirah. The meal quality is good. And the mess menu changes every month(there is no significant change, they only shuffle the items mostly). The hostel registration can be done after you're done with the document verification process. The hostel fee includes mess and laundry. And the fee payment is on yearly basis. Although, the hostel comes with a huge set of rules. The mess timings are strict and no food will be provided if you're even a minute late. The hostel night timings for girls are 7 pm. After that, no entry will be allowed. And for boys, it is 10 pm. Day scholars are not allowed to enter the hostel at any point of the day. No festival celebration/birthday celebration is allowed inside or outside the hostel(on the college campus). Heating pads or any other electric gadgets are not allowed to be kept in the hostel rooms. And the rooms are randomly checked and if found fine is imposed.
