The Best University

MS
8.5 /10

I was doing research on google. I knew what i wanted to do. I made a list of all universities offering environmental engineering. My criteria was, i wanted something where i can travel from home. University of Leeds was the closest and has a very good reputation. The University website has everything about the application process.

Course Curriculum :

In terms of facilities, we got access to libraries, computers. We could borrow books and papers free of cost.

Exams :

Application process was very easy. All I had to do was go on university website and fill the application form, where they asked about the details, my marks from bachelor's. After that I provided a personal statement where I explained why I am interested in this course or university, what inspired me to do this course. And if I had any relevant work experience in about 500 words. Once I submitted it, my application was reviewed by team.

Placement :

We have placement cells on campus.

Internship :

I applied for part time job which is published on University union. But I wasnt successful. There are lot of options where I could apply for jobs within the university, which would be 8-9 hours per week. I could study as well as work.

Fees :

For me tuition fee was £ 11000 because i am EU/home student. I have lived here for 10 years so they count me as home student. If i were international student, it would have been about £ 24000-25000 i think.

Faculty :

My course mates are from different countries. There are people from China, India, Nigeria. Its very diverse. Most of the study has been online. We have not met most of our faculties. But all the faculties are very approachable and friendly. They provide abundance of help. In terms of teaching style, its usually lectures, seminars. and we are given activities in group. In terms of assessment, we have exams. This year we had online assessments. We do presentations, mostly in group activities.

Campus Life :

When I first joined the university, I had a week goal special week. I got to meet all the different societies that university has to offer. I could speak and chose whichever I wanted to join. They will have lots of different events. They do university tours, they give free meals on that specific day. There are so many different activities. There is gym. They have zumba classes, swimming classes.

Hostel :

Being an indian student, we do not see that much gatherings in family in US. Many of my elders told that do not make more indian friends while in US, because you will be messed up. They will all talk about their homes and that will make you homesick. That messes up your focus. You interact with different people. I took an apartment a bit far away from university. We were 7 people in single house
