The University of York was established in October 1963 with 230 students which expanded its campus in 1964 to marshy land around Wellington Hall.   • When the university was started it had only 3 buildings, 230 students and 28 staff (October 1963).
  • The University of York Campus consists of nine colleges, more than 30 research centers and academic departments.
  • Now the campus is about 500 acres (200 hectares).
  • Many facilities are provided like shops for groceries, stationary, cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs, salon, and bank, in the heart of the campus for all staff, students and visitors. (including international groceries)
  • It also has wildlife on its campus. The lake of the university is a popular place for many species (wild and semi-wild). These include Ducks, Geese, Swans, Grebes, Moorhens, Herons, Rabbits and Squirrels.

I loved the atmosphere and general buzz of the uni, as well as it having a huge investment in the chemistry department with state of the art equipment and excellence for teaching and student support. The university as a whole has a great reputation for being a place that provides academically stimulating courses and tutoring that is internationally recognised as well as being an environment that is fun and that allows you to build yourself as a person through societies and sport as well as expanding your academic knowledge.
