M.Tech in Nanotechnology Eligibility

Any candidate who has completed bachelorette in engineering or technology with aggregate score of 50% is eligible to apply for this course. B.E./B.Tech can be completed under any discipline. Almost all of the colleges require the candidate to appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

Duration

Generally, Master of Technology in Nanotechnology is a 2-year program consisting two semesters per year. Examinations are held at the end of each semester. Some of the courses such as M.Tech in Nano-science and Technology that is provided by Delhi University require three years for completion.

M. Tech Nanotechnology Admission Process

Most of the Universities offer admission to M.Tech in Nanotechnology on the basis of GATE score. Those without valid GATE score can seek admission on the basis of entrance exam conducted by the concerned college/University.

  • Sastra University- Admission can be obtained on the basis of candidate’s performance in qualifying UG/PG examination.
  • Delhi University- Candidates have to appear for an examination known as IIT JAM, with adequate score one can participate in the admission process. Delhi University offers a program that is similar to M.Tech in Nanotechnology i.e. M.Tech in Nano-science and Technology.

Information about the entrance exams is given below: -

  • Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) -   GATE is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate education programs (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Doctor of Philosophy) in Indian higher education institutes, with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other government agencies. Recently, GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings (i.e., government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions.
  • Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. - Generally, this examination is to be given by candidates who wish to pursue M.Sc. from Indian Institute of Technology. But the score also considered valid for some of the M.Tech courses such as M-Tech. (Materials Sciences with specialization in Nano-Science & Tech.) at IIT Bombay. The score is also considered valid for admission at Delhi University for M.Tech in Nano-science and Technology.

Direct Admission

Direct admission through management quota is also available in a very few of the private colleges; most of the colleges have a strict selection criterion.  Government engineering colleges such as IITs, NITs and IISc do not provide direct admission; getting valid score is the only option.

Distance Learning

Unfortunately there are no distance learning courses available for M.Tech in Nanotechnology in India. But there are some universities abroad that provide online course in M.Tech in Nanotechnology.

  • International Institute of Management and Engineering, Ottawa, Canada.
  • International Institute of Management and Engineering, Wellington, New Zealand
  • International Institute of Management and Engineering, Dubai, UAE.
