IIM Trichy PGPM Admission is based on Common Admission Process (CAP). The process consists of 2 steps, they are as follows:

Step 1: Shortlisting candidates for Personal Interview (PI)

Candidates are Shortlisted based on their CAT Scores for Personal Interview (PI) Process under CAP. The CAT cutoff for PGPM is as follows:

Ques. What are the factors that affect IIM Trichy Cutoff?

Ans. Some of the factors considered in determining the IIM Trichy cutoff include the total number of candidates who applied for the entry test and the difficulty level of the entrance exam. According to the IIM Trichy cutoff, the qualifying marks may be different for each programme.

Ques. How many candidates are expected to be shortlisted for IIM Trichy CAP PI 2024?

Ans. In CAP 2024, 9 new baby IIMs are participating in the selection process for MBA Admission. Therefore, CAP 2024 interview shortlisted candidates will be called for a common selection process by IIM Udaipur. The total number of candidates selected for CAP PI is expected to be around 11000.

Ques. Where are the centres available for CAP 2024?

Ans. As WAT is discontinued for 2023, PI interviews will be conducted online mode. The date and time of IIM CAP PI for shortlisted candidates will be communicated soon through email. Candidates will be sent a link for joining the interview two days prior scheduled day. Other than the candidate, no person must be present in the interview room.

Ques. How important is the CAT score in IIM Trichy's final selection?

Ans. In the final selection process, the majority of the weightage is in the CAT score component. IIM Trichy awards 50% merit for CAT 2023 score among other components i.e PI Score, Verbal Comprehension CAT, Work experience, Professional Qualification, and Gender Diversity.

Ans. Candidates who are shortlisted among the 9 participating IIMs will be informed through email on the registered email ID. After registering for the CAP process, IIM Udaipur will communicate the interview dates to the candidates.

Ques. How to prepare for IIM Trichy CAP interview?

Ans. Communication skills are the key to IIMs CAP Interview. Candidates are advised to keep answers crisp and short to remain within the context. Preparation for the interview round must include mock interviews based on basic previous interview experiences, “About Yourself”, academic record-based questions, field or work experience-based, “Why MBA?”, and general knowledge. One must have a positive attitude toward the candidates to deal with the question. Mastering body language, soft skills, and honesty is a must to be the top performer in CAP PI.

Ques. What are the credit points for Academic Diversity in IIM Trichy?

Ans. Yes, Candidates will get extra points if they don't belong to an Engineering & Technology background. 1 credit point will be given to the students from Arts, Management, Science, etc. in comparison to 0.5 credit score to the students from the Engineering and Technology branch.

Ques. Are there any changes in the Admission process under the new CAP?

Ans. Yes, the candidates will have to go through a Common Admission Process for all the nine 9 IIM under CAP 2024. They do not have to sit for the personal interview for each IIM individually. This slight change will help students to perform much better in Personal Interviews have also been introduced.

Course Curriculum Overview:

IIMs offer PGPM courses for MBA, earlier it was PGDM but after 2017 every IIM started offering PGPM and you will be awarded an MBA General Management degree after 2years of successful completion. For entire PG courses Faculty,: student ratio is around 1:13, which is good. And Faculties are permanently offering Ph.D. courses in their domain. Apart from this, you will be exposed to a rich Guest faculty list from foreign universities and old IIMs. Every faculty is a Ph.D. holder in their domain from top colleges and India and also some are from foreign universities, They have also industry experience in their domain and are also associated with various consulting projects. Some faculties are editorial writers in National financial newspapers. There will be a total of 6 terms duration varying from 2.5 to 3 months. Almost every week you will be writing an examination. Your evaluation will not be based on a single exam, during the entire term, you will be evaluated.

My course is a Post Graduate Program in Management Program (general). I wanted to have an understanding of all the fields and therefore I went for a General Program. The faculty in the college are highly experienced and qualified in their respective fields. The materials provided by them are exceptionally good. The faculty is extremely helpful and they guide you as and when required. The year is divided into 3 terms of almost 3 months. In each term, there is one mid and one end-term exam conducted. Other than that, students also have quizzes, projects and assignments as part of the marks component.

This makes the faculty: students ratio 1:10. The courses in the first year are usually considered core courses and are mandatory for all the students. In the second year, students can pick the electives of their choice and pursue a specialization. The exams are under the control of the PGPM office and they always conduct the exams as per the schedule, the evaluation and the exam papers are very strict.
