What students say about Indian Institute of Management - [IIMT]

Likes

  • So, I thought pursuing an MBA would help me fulfill this dream, and I found IIM Trichy to be the best option.
  • Internships are offered for all domains, and good companies visit every year. Every year, 100% placements are achieved with a great stipend.
  • IIM has a 100 percent placement record and is considered the best college in the state when it comes to placement opportunities.
  • Internship opportunities are excellent; each student will receive summer internship opportunities and will be paid for them.
  • The campus is located in a great location and is considered one of the best among all the B-schools in India.
  • As we had rented a hostel from NIT Trichy, we didnt have the best facilities. However, when compared with NITs other hostels, ours was well-maintained and equipped with the basics.
  • I would say that the college management was excellent, and the system and processes were put in place correctly.

Dislike

  • Though the mess food has both South Indian and North Indian food, the quality of the food is not very good

Placement Experience:

Till now IIM Trichy has a 100% placement record and final placements will be completed within 15 days in the month of November-December. The placement committee (run by students) will conduct your placements and the Prep team will help you to prepare for your placements including organizing Mock Interviews, and GDs with industry experts. Well known reputed firms are appointed to prepare students for placements. Last year's highest package was 34 LPA and the average was around 17.1 LPA.

Remarks:

For the PGPM course, you need Bachelor in any domain for IIMs. When you will fill CAT form, the option will be there to select IIMs and their courses. If you failed to select there any IIM you will not be able to apply them by any means in the future. The benefits of reservation vary from gender to category and academic background. If you are a female candidate some IIMs offer a gender diversity score, if you are from a non-Btech background then you can get an academic diversity score based on selected courses under the list.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the college are pretty decent and they are improving year after year. The placements are handled by the placement team and they make sure that the placements process goes on smoothly. More than 120 companies visit the campus for placements and the roles offered are very diverse. The name of the companies and the no of offers they made cannot be disclosed due to the policies of the placement team. The average package was around 17 lakhs CTC, but this year it has increased to around 19 lakhs ctc. For the summer placements, the students become eligible from term 1 itself and for the final placement students are eligible from term 4. 100% of the batch gets placed during the placement process.

Remarks:

The admissions process starts with CAT in the month of November. The eligibility for the course is a minimum of 50 per cent in the 10th class, 12th class and graduation. The Application form for the exam can be availed from the CAT Website and the application fee is 2000 rupees. The cut-off is different for different categories of students, which is highest for the General students which are 92+ percentile overall and 70+ percentile in each section. I belong to the general category and I haven't availed of any reservation benefits.

The placements team handles the placements of the college. The students are eligible for the summer placements from term 1 itself. More than 100+ companies visit the campus for placements. Due to the placement team rules, the names of the companies and the number of offers they made cannot be disclosed. The average package for the final placements is around 18 lakhs CTC per annum. Almost 100% of the students get placed during both summer Internships and the final placements. My plan after the degree is to work for an MNC in a marketing role.

Remarks:

Placement Experience:

The process for this starts in September. Various companies like Samsung, Colgate - Palmolive, Titan, Adani, ABFRL, Bain & Co., McKinsey, JPMC, Wells Fargo, RBI, Gartner, etc. came to the campus with the highest stipend of 3.2 L and an average of 1 L for the students. It covers the fields of Finance, Sales & Marketing, Consulting, Analytics, etc. For Finals also almost the same companies come with an average of 18 LPA. The campus had a lot of students who had converted the PPOs. IIM Trichy has a record of 100% placement.

Remarks:

Admission into the college like other B-schools starts with clearing the CAT exam with the mentioned cutoff both overall and sectional. Post that a Common Admission Process (CAP) is conducted by one of the new IIMs. For us, the process included the PI only. Suppose you are eligible for the process, the college contacts you via email. You then have to yourself registered on their portal and follow the further procedures. Any student who has at least done the under-graduation is applicable to sit for cat and then for the further process for all colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The faculty members of IIM Trichy are very experienced and most of them have completed their Research work from many prominent IITs and IIMs. The faculty: student ratio on the campus is 1:10. The teaching pedagogy is case-based and the students are provided with pre-reads before each class. One has to go through the pre-reads before coming to the class and discussions on the case happen in the classes. The exams are usually conducted as per the schedule and the question paper and evaluation are very difficult.

Remarks:

After the CAT a Group discussion or written ability test along with a Personal Interview will be conducted. Ques. How do you rate getting an MBA from a new IIM like IIM Ranchi or IIM Trichy? Should one wait a year and try getting into better B schools instead?

● Top Answer By Anamica Agarwal on 20 Jan 23

IIM Ranchi's MBA placement drive for 2022 saw 77 companies visit the campus for recruitment. The highest and average packages offered during this placement drive were INR 42 LPA and INR 16.62 LPA, respectively. IIM Trichy's final placement report for 2022 showed that the institute attracted over 110 industry giants who offered a variety of job roles in Sales & Marketing, Finance, Consulting, IT & Analytics, Operations, and HR. The highest and average packages offered during this placement drive were INR 34 LPA and INR 17.01 LPA, respectively. There are several ways to compare the quality of MBA programs at new IIMs such as IIM Ranchi and IIM Trichy. One method is to look at student performance and perception as reflected in B-school surveys. You can also try finding information about the experiences of graduates from these institutes. Another way to gauge the quality of an MBA program is to look at the performance of students in competitions, such as recruitment challenges, quizzes, paper presentations, and management fests. While these events can provide insight into student abilities, they may not necessarily reflect the capabilities of the faculty at a given institute. To get a better understanding of the faculty of an MBA program, you may want to consider the learning approach of the program. A good MBA program will have faculty members who have both studied the subject area extensively and have practical experience in the field. You can also look at the clubs and events related to marketing at the institute, as well as any visiting faculty, guest lectures, workshops, or training that have been held in the last one to two years. A reputable institute should make this information publicly available....Read more
