Galgotias University Ph.D. Important Dates 

Galgotias University offers Doctor of Philosophy degrees in humanities, Management, Social Sciences, Engineering, and other subject areas also.

Every year Galgotias University conducts an entrance examination for its Ph.D. courses. Some of the popular subjects are Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Management, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English, and many more. 

A total of 27 courses are there and some of the subjects are Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computing Science & Engineering, Biosciences, and Biomedical Engineering, Liberal Education, Basic & Applied Sciences, Law, Media & Communication Studies.

The predetermined intake for each program takes place twice a year, i.e. December and May. 

• The Candidate must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant subject to pursue a Ph.D. degree.
• Along with this, an entrance examination is also held with an interview for final selection.
• The nature of the course is full-time and part-time. The candidate can choose accordingly.

Galgotias University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

• The minimum eligibility for admission in a Ph.D. program is to have a Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks in aggregate or CGPA 6.0. 
• Candidates having a degree from any foreign educational Institution must be approved by a recognized authority or it must be incorporated under a law in its home country.

The exemption of entrance test can take place if: 

• Candidates with M.Phil. Qualification provided they were admitted to the M.Phil. Program through an Entrance Test.
• Candidates have qualified UGC-NET, GATE, and UGC-CSIR NET.
• Candidates wish to transfer to the Ph.D. program at Galgotias University and have already been admitted to a Ph.D. program in some other University through an entrance test.
• Candidates who already have 10 or more years of experience.

Note: Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals will get admitted to the program only in accordance with the guidelines and policy laid by the Government of India.

Galgotias University Ph.D. Selection Process 

 The applications are invited through an open advertisement by the university. All the necessary notifications are available on the official University Website. The candidate can directly go through the notifications regarding the admission process and all the relevant details on the university website.

Admission to a Ph.D. program in any subject is a two-stage process:

• Ph.D. Entrance Test
• Personal Interview

The written test is conducted by the CoE office. The qualifying marks for the same are 50%. The questions in the entrance test will be 50% based on research methodology and 50% of questions are from respective subject.

• The entrance test is conducted at the center and if there is any change in the location of the center it would be notified.
• The results will be declared by the CoE office and the interview marks would also be sent to the CoE office.
• The list of selected candidates will be sent to the office of Dean (PG & Research)/Registrar.
• Interested international students must attend an online entrance examination and interview held through video conferencing. Provided the students have to submit three letters of recommendation.
• All of the selected candidates and exempted candidates list will be uploaded on the website.
• For finally selected candidates the viva-voce or an interview will be organized where the candidates have to discuss their research area through presentations to the University Research Committee.
• The interview will be judged based on whether the research work can be undertaken by the college. The competence possessed by the candidate for the respective research area. And whether the area of research can add up to new knowledge.
• The final results of Ph.D. admissions will be uploaded on the Website of Galgotias University. The admission will be based on the merit of the personal interview.
• All the selected candidates for pre-registration are required to identify and consult research supervisors from the list of supervisors available on the university website with vacancies in areas of respective subjects. The candidates should submit a letter of consent signed by the research supervisor to the institute.
• The provisional admission will be officially given to the candidate by the University after the submission of a consent letter from the supervisor and verification of all eligibility documents along with the payment of prescribed fees.
• For finally selected candidates the date of pre-registration shall be the date on which the Research advisory committee has recommended the admission. Such dates shall be half-yearly viz., 15th January and 15th July, as the case may be, as per the University calendar.

Candidates can choose according to their preference whether they want to pursue the course part-time or full time. Students applying for part-time Ph.D. should prove to the SRC that their official duties allow them to devote enough time for the research, ensuring that for pursuing research work there are sufficient facilities at their place of work in the relevant field, if and when required

There is an additional examination fee i.e., Rs.10,000 (per annum) for every PhD program.

No Fee is refunded, after the commencement of the session of the PhD program.
