Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

For admission to B. Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, the candidate is needed to have passed the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects and Chemistry or any other technical subject. The minimum percentage required is 50% aggregate in the 3 major subjects, however, it could be higher for some universities. For admission to IITs, it is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE).  English is also one of the compulsory subjects in the qualifying examination for some institutes. Selection of eligible candidates (10+2 qualified with relevant subjects) is based either on the AIR in JEE Mains or marks obtained in the national/State level or university level entrance examinations.

Generally, admission to B. Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is based on performance in the entrance examinations- State level or national level engineering entrance examinations such as AIEEE or JEE or university level entrance exams such as VITEEE or SRMJEEE. Some institutes also provide direct admission via Board Merit list considering the score obtained in Class XII or qualifying exam.   • SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Exam (SRMJEEE) – SRMJEEE is a national- level online examination conducted each year in the month of April by SRM University, Chennai, for candidates willing to enroll themselves to undergraduate courses. Applications forms are available in November and the last date to submit the online application is in the last week of March. The university offers direct admission to top rank holders in central and State board examination and/ or top 1000 IIT JEE rank holders.
  • West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) – WBJEE is a State level entrance examination held for the purpose of conducting Joint Entrance Examination for admission to various institutions in West Bengal imparting education in medical, engineering and technological courses. Examination is held in the month of April every year and application forms are made available in January.
  • Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) – Conducted by the Anna University for admission into engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu.
