How was the placement of IIIT Una this year? Should I go for IIIT Una?

The placements of IIIT Una have improved this year as compared to last year. Training and placement cell is working really hard to improve it and as mentioned on the official site there is 100% placement this year and this is really good. The average package is not declared yet officially but the highest package was 13.6 LPA . Off-campus placement is good too and the highest package off-campus is about 60 LPA. And the placement will increase exponentially in the coming years. Since this year the college will be shifting to Una campus there will be better connectivity to train and ease of commuting which can help companies to visit frequently. If you are thinking of joining IIIT Una that means your JEE rank is something like either you can opt for newer IIITs with higher branches or can opt for lower branches in NITs. My friend was stuck in the same dilemma but after coming to IIIT Una she realized that it was the best decision that she didn’t compromise branch for college. Pros of joining IIIT Una: You will get the latest curriculum which is far better than NIT’s. You can check the curriculum on its official website You will see that there is more emphasis on practical knowledge which is a huge plus point. And, from this year onwards they will be having the concept of relative marking just like IIT. The practical course constitutes a minor project work based on the concurrently studied theory in that semester. Your 6th semester will be purely dedicated to internships so that you can have industrial exposure. You will get an amazing coding culture and helpful seniors too. Lastly, if you want to opt for an institute of national importance with this JEE rank, then IIIT Una is really a good option. Do not go for lower branches of NIT or any other private colleges.

If I take admission in the very first batch of IIIT Una (cs), Himachal Pradesh, will I surely be placed? What is the best placement story of someone who got placed from the first batch of IIIT/NIT?

There is no surety that you will be placed in a good company. It only depends upon your capability and your hard work. You will have to look for the companies and talk to the placement department as well. However, if you have started competitive coding, then it’s a plus point. To ace the placements, you must become the best in coding.

How is the placement at IIIT Una? Are the students placed along the students of NIT Hamirpur?

IIIT students sit along with the NIT students during classes. During placements, the students of both IIIT and NIT sit together for campus placements. In general, the placements of IIIT students are less as compared to NIT but some bright students of IIIT get good placement along with good packages. The IIIT students also sit for the campus placements at NITH but some companies don’t allow the IIIT students. At the end of the day, it only depends upon your capability, hard work, and talent. You will get ample opportunities for placements. The other facilities, academics, hostels, etc are all the same for IIIT. How are the placements at IIIT Una? Are they the same as NIT Hamirpur?

I have a friend who is an alumnus of IIIT Una and here is what he had to say about the placements. IIIT Una started from NIT Hamirpur campus as its temporary campus and its first batch graduated in the year 2018 only. This first batch faced a lot of difficulties because even though they were treated equally with the NIT Hamirpur’s students for the four years academically, during the placements most of the companies did not allow IIIT Una students to appear for the placement process. Even the placements were handled by NIT Hamirpur as IIIT Una did not have its own placement committee. But the companies were hesitant to recruit IIIT Una’s students. Many companies did not have IIIT Una in their list of colleges to visit as they have a strict pre-defined policy for the same. So most of the companies were out of bounds for IIIT Una students. However, there were some companies who did allow them and the students grabbed the opportunities. Next year onwards, IIIT Una build its own placement committee and became independent from NIT Hamirpur for placements. So expectedly they are better than before.

Placement Experience:

IIIT Una has a decent placement. Companies like Amazon, JIO, Smartcoin, Delloite, MarketExcel, Publicis Sapient etc visit the campus. Students in the 8th semester are eligible for campus placements. The highest pakage is 44 lpa offered by Amazon to 7 students. The average pakage of the institute is 12.1 LPA.

Internships Opportunities:

As of now internship opportunities are quite less. Institute offers a full semester time to students in their 6th semester which is quite valuable as students get a lot of exposure to the industries. The placement statistics of the college are good. The average package is 12.5 lpa and the highest package offered was 47 LPA. Companies like Amazon, Google, TCS, etc. visited the college and give many offers to the students. In 6th semester you can take an internship. 6th semester is fully dedicated to internships only.

Internships Opportunities:

Many big companies provide internship opportunities and you can also take internships under different IITs and NITs. Generally, companies give internships based on your skills and almost every field company is coming like web development app development machine learning, etc.

Placement Experience:

last year is 12lpa. The highest package of last year is 47 LPA on Amazon. And this year also placements are good. Some students got amazon, Groww, and other good companies. I think 90-95% of students get placed every year in college. And the internship there will be a dedicated semester for doing an internship.

Internships Opportunities:

In the college, there is a dedicated semester which is the 6th semester for doing the internship. Mainly the internship we have to go through off campus. But gradually companies are coming like this year some seniors got a product development role in American Express. And also some seniors got into some good companies as App developers and web developer roles through on campus.

Many companies visit for the on-campus drives in the 3rd sem. You can either get into those or do some research internships at other colleges or in the same college. You get paid as per your skills and knowledge.

Placement Experience:

At IIITU it is compulsory for all students to do a 6 months internship in the 6th semester. The highest on-campus package of last year was 47lpa and the average package of around 12lpa. The placements for this year are not revealed yet. But it is far better than in previous years.

Internships Opportunities:

We have to compulsory do an internship or research in the 6th semester. The companies visit the campus for internship opportunities with stipends. We also have signed an MOU with IIT Mandi. So students can do their research at IIT Mandi.
