Graduate Engineering at Umich Ann Arbor

8.0 /10

Good university for my program and one of the best ECE departments in the USA, umich is also a very good rated university among all others for masters and graduate programs with one of the best engineering courses. Good engineering department and faculty as well as good research groups.

Course Curriculum :

Courses are really good for my department, one of the best masters in the university and the biggest department here. You can select courses from other subtracts even though you are not in that particular subtract. Some courses are really intense and you need to put in a lot of time but they have excellent faculty and courses so it's worth it.

Exams :

My score is GRE 316 Verbal 164 Quants 152 I don't know the exact requirement just try to get a good score maybe 320 on GRE and 100+ in TOEFL. Some university needs a better score in TOEFL if you want a TA position but also can get tests done in the university to show you have improved your English scores. So not compulsory. Sop will be the biggest deciding factor so focus on that.

Placement :

The placements are really good with good packages and many renowned companies come for placement drives to take students so lots of opportunities. A lot of students also get co-op while studying so that is also good and there are tons of research labs with lots of positions for students who might be interested in research.

Events :

Campus life was pretty dead due to covid but next semester it will be better hopefully. Generally, there are lots of events and stuff when not during a pandemic and the other school also hosts a ton of events do always something to do around the campus. The engineering campus is a little separate from the main campus but you can always go down to the main campus and it's not that far.

Scholarship :

No, I haven't applied for scholarship.

Faculty :

The faculty is really good, they are very helpful and good at what they teach. The subject won't be disappointing from ECE at least, make sure to take subjects that have a lower workload than heavy ones to not get overwhelmed. Professor Bavvuw is amazing in the ECE department

Hostel :

I have a shared room as the rents are a little high in the city, the dorms are generally expensive but if you share a room you can get decent rent in any of the off-campus housing. Off-campus housing is a pretty decent and good society to live in. Very close to the campus as well. Walking distance.
