Amazing learning experience at here.

SB
7.2 /10

The program was the most important factor. I also really liked the community and the opportunities for research since it's the 1st public research institute in the country. I wanted to do CS through an arts college and get a breadth of interdisciplinary knowledge. I wanted to challenge myself with a bunch of competitive people but I also didn't want that to be a driving force. The people at UMich are extremely helpful and kind too and will help anyone struggling as compared to places where I come to the first mentality.

Course Curriculum :

I think my coursework is extremely updated and relevant. It is easy to get opportunities and does not take long to accommodate into the workforce given what we learn. I have a lot of research opportunities that you wouldn't find elsewhere and I really appreciate that.

Exams :

I submitted 2 LoR for every college I applied to. I submitted my CV, which highlighted my academic and sporting achievements, for select colleges as well. SoP is exceedingly important. I wrote about the reasons the particular program at the uni appealed to me and did in-depth research on the same. I think it's imp to mention your unique outlook on your major. For example, I chose to specifically apply to do a BS in CS from the arts not engineering college. This was to minor in econ and get a chance to take classes that are not restricted to physics and chem. For my uni, I had a separate secondary application to do for the Honors program. These were separate prompts and a small group interview.

Placement :

Alumni have made a mark for themselves.

Internship :

Required you to send in a resume and sample writing pieces as well as an interview. I currently work under prof. Barbara Ericson as a tease arch intern for her project on writing and coding e-books for CS beginners classes.

Events :

Love the campus it is open and beautiful and you never find it too crowded. There are many clubs to engage your interests and the supportive environment is something I really appreciate.

Fees :

$ 60,000 (out of state tuition).

Scholarship :

Not at my current uni but I was awarded the provost star award at UC Davis worth $15,000 and a scholarship to Santa Clara University worth $10,000.

Faculty :

While it is highly dependent on your program the average faculty to students ratio is 1:15. All staff is extremely kind and approachable including student instructors. Prof. Mara Bollard, Prof. William Arthur, Prof. Sofia Saleem, Prof. Emily Graetz, and Prof. Barbara Ericson are just a few amazing professors I have ahead of the pleasure of studying under.

Hostel :

I live in an apartment off-campus though I did stay in dorms last year. I like the freedom and space of my own apartment but the dorms are well structured and the food and RAs were all top-notch.
