Laval University Admission Deadlines

While the admission deadlines vary for domestic and international applicants, they remain the same across courses and levels of study. The admission deadlines for international applicants are given below:

Laval University International Student Admissions

International students must follow the specific application process diligently while applying to Laval University as there are certain additional requirements to be followed by overseas students.

French Proficiency International Students

As a part of their admission process, non-Francophone applicants (someone whose education was in a language other than French) must take a French proficiency test - Test de français international (TFI). International students must also take Exams required to study in Canada to qualify for admissions at Laval University.

The minimally required level of French proficiency varies from program to program. The TFI scores will determine whether the applicant is required to take French language classes in addition to other qualifying courses. The university offers French-language services to its students.

Visa Process for International Students

After being admitted into the university and receiving the offer letter, students need to procure the appropriate permits and documentation to attend the program. Canada Visa process can be extensive so it is advised that students begin months in advance. They will need:

  • A valid passport
  • A Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), from the Ministry of immigration for programs longer than 6 months
  • Apply for a study permit and visa
  • Quebec's immigration law requires proof of valid health and hospitalization insurance.

Laval University Undergraduate Admissions

Laval University offers many undergraduate courses to prospective applicants. The basic admission process for all the courses is the same.

Once an application is assessed, the applicant is informed of whether they are admitted to take a ‘qualifying course’, through which students acquire language or knowledge tools necessary to excel in the university.
